Soil samples from dump yards in Thiruvanthapuram were collected for isolation of bacteria. Isolates obtained were screened for non chitinase and protease activity, by culturing on skimmed milk and colloidal chitin agar plates respectively. The organism which did not degrade chitin but degraded protein was selected and identified by simple staining, gram staining, IMViC, and with further molecular identification by 16SrRNA analysis, it was confirmed that the isolate was Serratia marcescens. The economical application of Serratia marcescens was analyzed by quantifying the enzyme production and its degrading capacity on shell fish waste. The enzyme kinetics was studied after its purification and characterization using column chromatography and SDS-PAGE respectively. The optimum temperature and pH for maximum enzyme activity was identified and studied for future applications on a broad scale.

Cucumis melo L. is monoecious climber, commonly growing weed, belonging to family cucurbitaceae. Whole plant of C. melo is medicinally important. Plant pacifies vitiated dysentery, diarrhoeic diseases, flatulene, skin diseases, antivenin and general debility. Dispending medicinally uses, our study have been found that this weeds has mosquito repellent activities. To determine repellant activities petroleum ether fruit extract of C. melo was used against the larvae of Culex quinquefasciatus. The Larval mortality was observed after 24h exposure and highest larval mortality was found in petroleum ether fruit extract of C. melo.

Designing of Very Large Scale Integrated Circuits (VLSI) operates at Megahertz and Gigahertz satisfying the design constraints for desired applications is a challenging job due to various reasons like transient time effect, high power requirement and consumption etc. Phase Locked Loop (PLL) is an important integrated circuit used in various areas of communications. Frequency synthesizers when used in Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FH-SS) requires strict timing synchronization between transmitting and receiving system for successfully despreading and the power consumption is also high due to high frequency operation. In this contribution a new scheme has been proposed, in which frequency hopping transmitter and receiver has been operated at intermediate frequency and the same hopping rate was obtained as can be achieved by fast hopping spread spectrum operated at high frequency and therefore requires low speed frequency synthesizers and offers many advantages like more user capability, Low cost and simple amplifiers, filters, ADC and DAC converters requirement. The IFH-SS transmitter and receiver based on proposed intermediate frequency hopping spread spectrum has been experimentally verified. The results of experimental investigation have been presented in the paper. The waveforms obtained at various check nodes have also been presented.

The main objective of online exam is to efficiently evaluate the candidate thoroughly through a fully automated system that not only saves lot of time but also gives fast results for students the paper are given to students as their convenience and time and there is no need of using extra thing like paper, pen etc.

Effect of roasting temperature and time on the total polyphenols, flavonoids, total antioxidants and antioxidant properties of tigernut was studied using response surface methodology. Tigernut samples were roasted in an oven at the range of 150 – 200oC for 20 – 50 min. Out of the responses, only radical scavenging activity was not significantly affected by the roasting conditions. Roasting temperature affected the antioxidant contents significantly (p > 0.05) than roasting time. The optimum roasting temperature and time obtained was 200 oC for 20 min. The experimental values were very close to the predicted values and were not significantly (p > 0.05) different.

Asthma is a respiratory disease that is common in Saudi Arabia and characterized by sporadic occurrence of bridge, chronic inflammation of the airways involving recurrent airflow obstruction and increased responsiveness to a variety of stimuli. Recent research suggests that airway inflammation is the most cause of the episodes of airflow limitation in asthma which lead to increase oxidative stress. This imbalance between oxidant and antioxidant has been increasingly recognized as a big factor contributing to the chronic inflammation. Therefore, the aim of this review is to describe the role and origin of the oxidant-antioxidant disturbances that participate in the pathophysiology of airway inflammatory diseases. We have updated existing information about effects (effects of oxidants in the lung) of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species in the lung including the mechanisms of their damaging effect. The first section focuses entirely on the symptoms, the types and stages of bronchial asthma. The second section investigates the role of oxidant-antioxidant imbalance in disease progression of asthma. The last section outlines the therapeutic value of available antioxidant herbals and vitamins that could improve oxidant-antioxidant balance in bronchial asthma disease.

Publication has its own importance for professionals. It is better to examine and encourage the young scholars. This article examines the perceptions of the professional faculty regarding the difficulty in publication in the field of finance, marketing, human resources management. Data was collected from Rawalpindi/Islamabad professionals. In this study descriptive tools used to analyzed the data. There was mixed response regarding the publication in Journals. It is also observed that institution tend more credit to the co authorship.

Polyurethane coatings are formed from the chemical reaction between polyol and polyisocyanate hardener. By varying the concentration of isophorne diisocyanate, two component polyurethane coatings have been prepared with the blending of epoxy polyol and isophorne diisocyanate (IPDI). Totally seven types of experiments were conducted with the prepared blend mixtures. All these experiments were based on the solid contents of the hydroxyl equivalent weights of epoxy polyol and NCO equivalent weight of IPDI. Films were coated on the mild steel using the clear polyurethane solution. The Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) was used to characterize the coated film. The formation of the polyurethane was confirmed FTIR spectral data.

Images containing faces are essential to intelligent vision-based human computer interaction, and research efforts in face processing include face recognition, face tracking, pose estimation, and expression recognition. The rapidly expanding research in face processing is based on the premise that information about a user’s identity, state, and intent can be extracted from images and that computers can then react accordingly, e.g., by knowing person’s identity, person may be authenticated to utilize a particular service or not. A first step of any face processing system is registering the locations in images where faces are present. However, face registration for whole database is a challenging task because of variability in scale, location, orientation (up-right, rotated), and pose (frontal, profile). Facial expression, occlusion, and lighting conditions also change the overall appearance of face. The Image registration algorithm will register all these images present in the database. The face recognition algorithm which is insensitive to large variation in lighting direction and facial expression is to be implemented. Taking a pattern classification approach, each pixel in an image can be considered as a coordinate in a high-dimensional space. The advantage of this is that the images of a particular face, under varying illumination but fixed pose, lie in a 3D linear subspace of the high dimensional image space—if the face is a Lambertian surface. However, since faces are not truly Lambertian surfaces and do indeed produce self-shadowing images will deviate from this linear subspace. Rather than explicitly modeling this deviation, project the image into a subspace in such a manner which discounts those regions of the face with large deviation. This is achieved by using dimension reduction techniques like Principal component analysis (PCA), Linear Discriminant analysis (LDA), Laplacian faces, and other modified approaches like A Priori Laplacian and PCDA.
