Cobalt(II) complexes with 2,4-pentanedione, salicylaldehyde and 4,4,4-trifluoro-1-(2-Naphthyl)-1,3-butanedione(tfnb) as primary ligand, ethylenediamine, 2,2'-bipyridine and 1,10-phenanthroline as secondary ligand have been synthesized and characterized by metal analysis, infrared, electronic spectral studies, conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements and antimicrobial studies. The conductivity measurement in nitromethane indicates that the complexes and adducts are non-electrolytes while the different shifts of the carbonyl frequencies were revealed by the infrared spectral measurements. The electronic measurements are indicative of a probable six-coordinate octahedral geometry for all the cobalt(II) compounds except [Co(tfnb)2] with a probable four-coordinate square planar geometry. The ligands and the cobalt(II) compounds were screened for in vitro antimicrobial activity against ten microorganisms. [Co(tfnb)2Bipy] and [Co(tfnb)2en] showed more promising antimicrobial than antifungal activity.

This work examined the effect of talent management on employee productivity in selected banks in Anambra State. The study reviewed relevant conceptual, theoretical and empirical literatures. It was anchored on management process approach and human capital theory. Talent Retention, performance management systems, training and development and talent attraction were employed as the explanatory variables while employee productivity was the dependent variable. The study adopted survey research design. The population of the study comprised 353 staff of the selected banks in Anambra State. The sample size was 353(using the entire population). Questionnaire was employed as the main instrument of data collection. The data generated were analyzed using frequency, percentage analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. The study found that talent retention had a significant influence on employee productivity. Performance management systems had a significant effect on employee productivity. Training and development had a significant influence on employee productivity and talent attraction had a significant effect on employee productivity. The study concluded that talent management had a significant effect on employee productivity. The study therefore recommended that management should establish talent retention strategies and make them known to all employees. Management and employees should be involved in the entire process of performance appraisal. To enhance employee productivity, it is imperative that the organization focuses on training and development programs that are not only essential but enhance employees’ competitiveness. Programs should be designed by both managers and employees. Talent attraction such as competitive salary packages and rewards should be established as a policy in every organization.

The world economy collapsed into steep recession in the final quarter of 2008 with global real GDP dropping at a 6 percent annual rate. This was undoubtedly the sharpest decline in world output and especially in world industrial production and world trade of the postwar era, with virtually all countries participating in the downturn and many registering record quarterly declines in real GDP .the global economic contraction continued through the first quarter of 2009, although perhaps at a somewhat slower pace than the preceding quarter. This recession in world economy has also initiated a discussion among economist regarding synchronization of various economies of the world and recession in one country bringing effects in other. In economics Decoupling Hypothesis rejects linkage between world economy and economy of a particular country . The present paper aims to find tenability of decoupling Hypothesis in India and finds correlation between recession in world economies and Indian Economy

Crack growth characteristics of rubbery materials are an important factor in determining the strength and durability of the materials. The present work studied three stocks composed of Natural Rubber (NR), Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) and Polybutadiene Rubber (BRcis) filled with carbon black N330. Three percentages of (NR/SBR/BRcis) were studied, namely (40/60/0), (40/50/10) and (40/40/20). The intent was to develop the Standard Italian Perilli Recipe (SPR) for Truck Tires Sidewall manufactured in Al-Dewaniya Tires Factory that have (30NR/70SBR) filled with carbon black N550. The results of constant amplitude loading have verified the applicability of the Paris law to the flexing fatigue behaviour of truck tire sidewall components. The accumulative fatigue damage was studied by the application of Miner’s rule to variable amplitude loading and gave unacceptable safe results at both sequence (L-H) and (H-L). The recipe that has (NR/SBR/BRcis) blending with percentages of (40/50/10) was generally the best in combined properties.

The growing concern about the profuse use of texting endangering the standard forms in language prompted the present research to determine the presence or absence of SMS features in the academic writing of the participants. Triangulation was used for data collection i.e. questionnaires for learners and educators and samples of the learners’ English written work were examined for SMS features. Suppliance in Obligatory Context was used for data recording. Simple average and ratio were used for descriptive analysis of the data. Contrary to the expectation, there were no significant evidences of these features in the sample. It seems being proficient in standard forms, these learners are context conscious and can switch to the appropriate register or style when writing formally .Thus the present study has de mystified the popular belief about texting adversely affecting writing and thus destroying Standard English. Moreover, the evidences of one punctuation mark used in place of another indicate there can be other factors like carelessness or lack of knowledge of students and the lack of training, feedback or emphasis by educators or the system. So the matter of concern should be the general neglect of punctuation even out of the context of texting.

Married women who work face various challenges in managing both sides of the world. Performing both tasks demand high degree of commitment and the responsibilities that need to be performed may vary across family life cycle. Success in one domain may influence the other. This study examined the relationships between personal factors, job satisfaction and marital quality among respondents from different stages of family life cycle. Participants were 235 married working women from four districts in Selangor, whose husbands residing together with them at the time of the study. Self-administered questionnaire was used for data collection. The results indicate that there are significant differences in marital quality and job satisfaction between the different stages of life cycle. Women who have more children, older, and have long-term marriage reported lower marital quality. It is also noted that higher educated women tend to have high marital quality while increased in job satisfaction would ensure a better quality marriage among the respondents. Future studies need to consider using longitudinal data to fully understand the impact of job satisfaction on marital quality across the life cycle.

This article reviews about the medical laboratory training in Kenya.

The goal of the present study is to conduct a comprehensive examination of reliability and validity of Malay language version of adjusted workplace happiness scales developed by Pryce-Jones (2010) in Malaysian school setting. Therefore a translated and adjusted version of established content and concurrent validity scale was used. Exploratory factor analysis in Malaysian secondary school teachers sample was conducted to examine convergent and discriminant validity of translated and adjusted version of the workplace happiness scales. Following this, the reliabilities and subscale intercorrelations were determined. Next, the reliabilities and nomological validity was evaluated. The overall pattern of results indicated that the Malay language adjusted workplace happiness scale version was reasonably reliable and valid in Malaysian school settings.

The molecular vibrations of 2,6-dimethyl pyridine was investigated by FT-IR and FT-Raman spectroscopies. Normal co-ordinate calculations of 2,6-dimethyl pyridine have been carried out using wilson’s FG matrix mechanism on the basis of General valence Force Field (GVFF) for both in-plane and out-of-plane vibrations. The potential energy constants obtained in this study are refined using numerical methods.

The aneurysms of the digestive visceral arteries constitute a rare vascular pathology, since they represent only 5% of all the aneurysms. The rupture remains the most formidable complication. The treatment is essentially based on conventional or endovascular surgery. This is a report of 4 cases presenting an aneurysm of different visceral arteries managed in the department of vascular surgery of the Mohammed VI-Oujda CHU.The mean age was 41 years, (30-57 years mean with SD), sex ratio is at 1, and two patients had a specific aneurysm related symptomatology with pulsatile abdominal mass and systolic murmur. The location of the aneurysms was variable with two cases of the splenic artery, one of the superior mesenteric artery and one of the cystic artery. The diagnosis was madein three patients by the abdominal ultrasound, supplemented by the CT-scann, and once by the abdominal CT- scann immediately. Three patients were treated surgically with resection of the aneurysm without restoration of continuity. The goal of DAA treatment is to prevent risk of rupture associated to a high mortality. The risk of rupture depends on the location, type, and etiology of the aneurysm.Atherosclerosis has the main etiology of digestive aneurysms, followed by mycotic and post-traumatic aneurysms. Fibromuscular dysplasia remains a rare and poorly understood entity.Surgical treatment is the therapy of choice. Endovascular techniques have developed and are being used successfully. They have indications more and more wide in the treatment of aneurisms of the digestive arteries.The advent of endovascular treatment has significantly increased the percentage of patients treated for aneurysm of the digestive arteries, thus reducing morbidity and mortality in patients at high surgical risk.
