Development of stability-indicating spectrophotometric methods for the analysis of zonisamide in bulk and dosage form
The objective of this research was to develop simple, sensitive and stability-indicating zero (0D), first (1D) and second (2D) order derivative spectrophotometric methods for the analysis of zonisamide (ZON) in bulk and dosage forms. The original UV spectrum (zero-order) of ZON aqueous solution was measured at 284 nm against its blank. This spectrum was differentiated instrumentally to generate the first and second derivative spectra which were measured at 271+ 295 nm and 302+ 284 nm, respectively. The developed methods were validated as per ICH guidelines. Also the absorbance ratio between ZON absornance at 239 nm and 284 nm was determined. ZON degradation behavior in both acidic and alkaline media was investigated using first and second derivative spectroscopic methods. ZON obeyed beers law over the concentration ranges (10 ? 60) ?g/ ml for 0D and 1D and (20-100) ?g/ ml for 2D. The correlation coefficient (r) was found to be (0.999 for 0D, 0.999 for 1D and 0.9989 for 2D). The detection and quantitation limits were found to be (LOD= 2.08 for 0D, 1.38 for 1D and 9.53 for 2D) ?g/ ml; LOQ=6.93 for 0D, 4.62 for 1D and 31.8 for 2D) ?g/ ml. The precision of the developed methods were generally very good as RSD% values were ? 5%. The zero-order derivative spectrum of ZON shows two sharp bands at 239 nm and 284 nm. The ratio between the absorbance at these wavelengths was found to be in the range (1.9–2.3) which can be used for qualitative analysis of ZON. Regarding ZON stability profile, it showed that the drug is unstable under acidic and alkaline conditions as it undergo degradation following the first order kinetics and it was found to be unstable in outdoor conditions also.The statistical validation at 95% confidence level proves the sensitivity, precision, accuracy and the stability-indicating properties of the developed methods.

Infectious endocarditis revealed late after dramatic meningoencephalitis complicated by irreversible blindness
Neurological complications of infectious endocarditis (IE) occur in 20% to 40% of patients with IE and increase their risk (1). Most often, it is about embolisms, at the origin of ischemic vascular accidents, sometimes secondarily hemorrhagic. Central nervous system infections during IE are relatively rare (2,3,4): 6-7% for meningitis (2,4) and 1-4% for brain abscess (2,4). We report the case of a 34-year-old patient whose diagnosis of endocarditis complicated by massive mitral insufficiency by ruptured cordage was retained after a dramatic episode of meningoencephalitis, the origin of which was described as tuberculosis surgical treatment. The interest of this case lies in the importance to be accorded to the cardiovascular examination in the context of neurological emergencies, the scarcity of the tubercular origin of this affection and the medical and surgical challenge to raise in front of a patient carrying a massive mitral insufficiency, a candidate for cardiac surgery and subjected to an anti-bacillary treatment of difficult management

Persistent left superior vena cava: about a case and review of literature
Persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC) is a rare and benign congenital malformation. It results when the left superior cardinal vein caudal to the innominate vein fails to regress. It is often asymptomatic and usually diagnosed incidentally while performing imaging. The notation of a dilated coronary sinus on echocardiography should raise the suspicion of PLSVC. We report a rare case of a 56 year-old lady in whom we discover this anomaly because of dyspnea.

Ferroresonance: Causes, Effects and Remedies
Electricity power distribution networks are sometimes disturbed by a phenomenon known as ferroresonance. Causes, effects and remedies of ferroresonance are discussed in this paper. It is a nonlinear resonance in transformers which occurs during switching operations and lightning on networks containing inductors, capacitors and iron core materials that easily saturates. Overvoltages, overcurrents and distortions results’, causing overheating, damage to equipment, transformers and sometimes explodes. Difficult to predict, hence, in solving its problems, no mathematical solution is applicable yet. However, theoretical principles, simulations and measurements are commonly adopted. Secondary sources were used and the paper undoubtedly shall guide designers, manufacturers of transformers and operating personnel to ensure equipment longevity and safe operations for effective service delivery.

Volatile Oil Composition of Ocimum basilicum (Rehan) Leaf Extract and Antibacterial Activity against Bacterial Pathogens in Sudan
The dried leaves of Ocimum basilicum 100 g, produced 8.25% of concentrated volatile oil by hydro distillation method, the constituent of the oil were examined by GC-MS, it contained, Methyl eugenol (54.02%), Linalool (21.34%)?-cubebene (5.200%), Limonene (1.01%) nerol (0.875%), epsilon-muurolene(0.831% )?-pinene (0.76%) as the major compounds. The effect of volatile oil of Ocimum basilicum L, against six different pathogenic bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomona aeruginosa, Salmonella typhimurium, Klebsiella pneumonia and Bacillus cereus, were carried out by using a disc diffusion technique, the highest antibacterial activity was detected against Pseudomonas aeruginosa (16.5 mm inhibition zone); and its lowest against Klebsiella pneumonia (11.95mm inhibition zone).The antibacterial activity of the synthetic antibiotics, (Ciprofloxacin, Tetracycline Ceftriaxone, Chloramphenicol and Gentamycin, were tested by the disc diffusion method, and by measuring zones of inhibition, shows that there were significant differences, among all antibiotic the highest activity of antibiotic against bacteria was due to the action of ciprofloxacin (22.12 mm inhibition zone) and the lowest activity was due to the action of Ceftriaxone (10.8mm inhibition zone), among the bacteria, the highest inhibition zone by antibiotic is Salmonella typhimurium(17.8 mm inhibition zone), the lowest inhibition zone by antibiotic is Klebsiella pneumonia (10.96mm inhibition zone), there was no significant different between antibiotic and the volatile oil of Ocimmum basilicum in this study.

Influence of combined termite mound materials and inorganic fertilizers on growth parameters of maize under non sterilized pot culture study
Soil microinvertebrates are important agents of soil functioning through their bioturbation effects. Termites are found to be distributed with high species diversity in tropical ecosystem. They perform several activities that qualify them as soil engineers. Termite involves in mound building, subterranean tunneling and soil feeding thereby improving soil quality and nutrient fluxes. Subterranean termites Odontotermes obesus and Trinervieus trinervoides modify their environment, increasing the clay and organic matter content ensuring the soil fertility. Free living N2 fixers are found to be associated in termite mound materials. The TMM can be used as biofertilizers and it can improve maize production and economic yield.

On the effect of topological fixed point theory
The article presents the concept of fixed point theorem with the Banach contraction principle which is the main source of fixed point theory. We give definitions, theories and examples of Banach contraction principles, complete lattice, homeomorphism between spaces. The metric fixed point theory is given more importance due to its simplicity of application. To ensure existence of the fixed point, continuity property is not a necessary condition , however some order – monotonic conditions must be satisfied by a given mapping.
