Reservoirs containing heavy oil are usually produced using any of the enhanced thermal oil recovery techniques. Steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) technique was used to extract heavy oil from the reservoir investigated. With the CMG STARS software, a theoretical analysis was performed and a numerical model was developed to simulate gravity-assisted steam-flood for a well that was subjected to thermal recovery technique where energy in the form of heat was supplied into the reservoir. Development of the simulation model was used for history matching. Sensitivity analysis was performed to determine the relationship between viscosity and temperature. Additional well placement was also modeled for production optimization. The methods applied and results obtained provide a platform for predicting production performance and establishes ways to improve recovery.

Produced water represents more than 80% of the volume of waste generated by activities in the oil and gas industry. This is an enormous waste and should be handled and disposed of in a manner that should avoid negative environmental consequences. This paper details laboratory analysis for the removal of some of the harmful chemical and physical properties. Produced water was collected from A-field in the Niger Delta using 250 ml sterile sample bottle. At the end of the analysis, results show that removal of these harmful properties is dependent on the type of treatment proffer as the individual properties have different characteristics of the produced water quality and its origin. Compounds such as aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, phenols, and other chemical product which are used to facilitate petroleum production recovery contribute to oilfield water pollution.

Fresh fermented seed of Recinus communis (Castor Oil Seed) was analyzed for its nutritive evaluation. Isolation and identification of micro-organisms associated with it was also analyzed. The fresh fermented seed contains the following: Fat 21.66+ 0.02%; Protein 3.957+0.032%; Ash 5.09+ 0.03%; Crude Fibre 2.66+1.15%; Moisture Content 32.85+0.537% and Carbohydrate 38.85%. The result indicated the percentage composition of the following elements: Ca 45.42+2.126%; Ca and Mg 18.4+1.876%, Na 34.26 + 0.146%; P 187.92+2.126% and K 249. 46+ 0. 83%. The micro-organisms isolated and identified to be associated with the fresh fermented seeds of Ricinus communis are: For bacteria isolates; Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus saprophiticus, Bacillus subtilis, Lactobacillus plaintarum, Escherichia Coli, Streptococcus Spp and Protein mirabus. Fungi isolates are; Aspergillus niger and favus, Penicillin notatum, Batryodiplodia theombroma and Yeast. Three species of yeast identified are Saccharamyce; Pitia and Geotrichum. Fresh fermented seeds of Ricinus communis are very nutritious and medicinal. The paper examines Electronic Recruiting (e-recruiting) Strategy and Corporate adoption in Nigeria. The objective of this paper is to empirically investigate the successes associated with adopting electronic recruiting strategy by corporations in Nigeria since many corporations have not adopted or accepted this form of strategy. The paper adopts the documentary and survey methods. The statistical tool adopted for this paper adopts Spearman Rank Order Correlation Coefficient and the Pearson Product Moment Correlation with the aid of statistical package for social sciences. The paper finds that there is a significant relationship between website design and relative advantage; significant relationship between web design and complexity on corporate adoption in Nigeria, and that trust indicated an influence on the relationship between E-recruitment strategy and Corporate adoption in Nigeria. The paper recommends amongst others: improvement of service delivery to achieve efficient and effective web-based, e-recruiting; effective base for data-ware houses; the recruiting website should be interactive, pleasing and user-friendly. The paper suggests that further studies should be carried on diffusion study of e-recruiting to identify the underlying determinants of the level of acceptance of this technology by corporations in Nigeria. The scourge of poverty and the rate at which the figure is growing has necessitated the establishment of many anti-poverty programmes by different administrations in Nigeria. As at 2010 the number of Nigerians living below poverty line stood at 72 million, this then means that nearly half of Nigeria Population of 160 million is living below poverty line with all the anti-poverty programmes put in place. This figure is still on the increase. Microfinance Banking is the most recent and the only anti-poverty programme that combines financial intermediation with provision of financial services to the poor in the society. This paper therefore examined the role of Microfinance Bank’s operations on poverty alleviation in Nigeria. Data for the study were generated via secondary sources. The study built a regression model in line with the hypotheses. SPSS package version 17.0 was used. We tested for and corrected Autocorrelation and Muiticoliinearity. Our findings were as follows: the operations of MFBs have played significant role in poverty reduction in Nigeria, loans and advances of MFBs have significant negative impact on poverty alleviation. Some of our of our findings were in agreement with the objectives of MFB, while those that were not in agreement reflect the peculiar circumstances of the operations of microfinance banking in Nigeria. Since the government of Nigeria is interested in alleviating poverty, this work will be of immense help. The government can support Microfinance development by promoting macroeconomic stability, and avoiding interest rate caps and high inflation, ensure that the benefits of Microfinance banking are targeted at the core poor.

The study investigates the nature and extent of causal relationship between government expenditure and inflation rate in a 42-year period (1970-2011).Times series data obtained from the Central Bank's statistical bulletin of relevant years are analysed using descriptive(graphs and charts) and inferential(correlation,stationarity, Johansen's cointegration test and Granger causality test) analysis.The variables are stationary,weakly and inversely correlated and show longrun relationship.However,they did not granger-cause each other implying that there exists no pairwise causal relationship between them. We recommend appropriate fiscal-monetary policy mix,redirecting government expenditure to productive channels in the economy and maintaing a strategic balance between capital and recurrent expenditure. The study discusses improving safe blood donation in Nigeria and the roles of the mass media in achieving same in Nigerian hospitals. In this regard, it answers the questions: What is blood? What is blood donation? And is safe blood donation adequate in Nigeria? Beyond the relevant answers given on the above questions, it also explains the roles of mass media in improving safe blood donations among Nigerians. Besides this, it recommends among others that the federal government, state government, private hospitals and concerned Nigerians should encourage mass media campaigns continuously on the need for safe blood donations to save lives. It also upholds that the federal and state governments should establish more blood banks in their health facilities, in order to spur the people, who would become aware through the mass media, to access same for safe blood donations. The study was designed to identify the principals’ and teachers’ level of utilization of conflict management strategies: integrating, dominating, compromising and avoiding strategies on secondary students’ conflict resolution and their related implications in the internal school administration. Four research questions and four hypotheses addressed the study. The instrument used for the generation of data was the Secondary Students and Conflict Management Strategies Questionnaire (SECONSQ). A sample of 7 principals and 147 teachers were randomly selected from a target population of 14 principals and 294 teachers in Government Junior Secondary Schools in Port Harcourt Local Government Area of Rivers State. Tables were constructed, frequency counts, percentage and means computed to provide answers to the research questions. The results revealed that the principals uses the integrating and compromising strategies more frequently than the teachers;the teachers level in the use of avoiding strategies is higher than that of the principals, and teachers tends to overlook to a large extent the use of dominating strategies in the management of students’ conflict. Based on these findings the paper concluded that school managers are beginning to understand the legal implications associated in their administrative duties bordering on students’ management. It was thus recommended that, relevant institutional frameworks should be appropriately put in place to enable the principals and teachers further appreciate the emerging ideas and innovations concerning students’ conflicts management in schools.
