Low back pain (LBP) is a prominent cause of disability and restricts the quality of life and work performance of an individual. The present study was conducted to find out the prevalence and related factors of low back pain among office workers in Dhaka City. A cross-sectional study was carried out by a self-constructed questionnaire. 150 office workers comprising 112 male and 38 female took part in this study. The maximum age range was 30 to 39 years old (38.7%) where more than half of the respondents had less than 10 years of job experience. Results indicated that the prevalence of LBP was 60%. Most of the participants complained mild and moderated pain with intermittent nature, more than half (60.3%) of the respondents having LBP who did the frequent forward bending. Greater percentages (59.1%, 57.0%) of individuals who did not use lumber support and body distant from the computer greater than 50 cm were reported LBP. However, there was a significant relation between LBP with Job experience (p<0.05) and daily sitting time in a working place (p<0.05). Therefore, LBP was moderately high in Bangladeshi office workers and some factors were influencing for LBP. It is needed for all office workers to learn about the related factors that help to prevent and control the occurrence of pain.

The effect of environmental variables on the species composition and abundance of Phytoplankton was studied in Lake Chad for a period of 12 months in 2013. Five stations with varying anthropogenic activiteis across the Lake were sampled. A total of 33 phytoplankton species belonging to six taxonomic families were identified. Chlorophyceae family was the most abundant (32%) and Chrysophyceae being the least (9%). Numbers of species and individuals were both significantly reduced during the dry season of March to May and it corresponds to reduced water level. Phytoplankton numbers varied from 1.1x10²org/ l to 5.3x10²org/l with the highest density noted in the raininy season. Statistically significant difference (P<0.05) between seasons were discovered in the case of number of taxa and density. In terms of abundance by station, station 3 had the highest number of species (30) which was significantly different at P<0.05 from all other stations. The mean temperature value ranged from 26.8± 0.23 ?(Station 1) to 30.3±1.8 (Station 4). The highest mean depth of 8.5±0.74m was recorded by Station 3 with station 5 recording the least (4.5±0.1m). Station 4 was the most turbid (56±3.5NTU) and station 1 the least 43.3±1.2 NTU). The pH value was acidic for all stations wh?le Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) was very significantly higher P<0.05 in station 2 (80±0.56) while lowest value of 23±0.78mg/l was recorded in station 5. The Shannon Weiner and Margalef diversity index revealed that station 3 had the biggest diversity (1.681)(6.675) while station 1 recorded the least (0.695)(3.001) in both richness and eveness respectively. Considering the importance of phytoplanktons in the trophic function and health of water bodies, regular assessment of their status should be done regularly especially in areas with threats of anthropogenic perturbations.

Extra-pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is a common bacillary infection in our population but primary tuberculous liver abscess in a non-immunocompromised patient is an extremely rare occurrence. Only a few cases have been reported in the literature to this day to our knowledge. Its management often requires medical treatment or in combination with percutaneous drainage, but it may take on a surgical appearance. We report here a new case of an isolated tuberculous liver abscess extended to the chest wall in a 32 years old female which was successfully managed with surgical approach and anti tubercular therapy. This location presents a considerable diagnosis challenge. It should be considered in the differential diagnosis of liver cystic lesions, especially in a high tuberculosis prevalence country.

This paper presents a model of an electric vehicle based on the utilization of solar energy and electricity. Battery driven inverter is used to feed the single phase induction motor. The speed of the induction motor is controlled through voltage regulator using TRIAC. This model presents a new concept of hand driven electric vehicle with use of solar energy to charge the battery of the inverter.This vehicle being hand driven makes it applicable for physically handicapped people.

The incidence of stenosis of the subclavian artery represents 3 to 4% of the general population [1]; atherosclerosis is the most common cause. We conducted this study to review the stenocclusive pathology of the subclavian artery, and to expose our experience in surgical and endovascular management. It is a retrospective and analytical study conducted within the department of vascular surgery of Mohammed VI CHU. Surgical treatment consisted of subclavio-carotid transposition in 2 cases, carotid-bypass grafting in one case and angioplasty with stent placement in the latter case. It is important for the surgeon to have a thorough understanding of the anatomy and etiology of subclavian artery stenosis, while considering the surgical options. This case series presents some of the treatment options available to vascular surgeons for the management of symptomatic subclavian artery disease.

The aneurysms of the digestive visceral arteries constitute a rare vascular pathology, since they represent only 5% of all the aneurysms. The rupture remains the most formidable complication. The treatment is essentially based on conventional or endovascular surgery. This is a report of 4 cases presenting an aneurysm of different visceral arteries managed in the department of vascular surgery of the Mohammed VI-Oujda CHU.The mean age was 41 years, (30-57 years mean with SD), sex ratio is at 1, and two patients had a specific aneurysm related symptomatology with pulsatile abdominal mass and systolic murmur. The location of the aneurysms was variable with two cases of the splenic artery, one of the superior mesenteric artery and one of the cystic artery. The diagnosis was madein three patients by the abdominal ultrasound, supplemented by the CT-scann, and once by the abdominal CT- scann immediately. Three patients were treated surgically with resection of the aneurysm without restoration of continuity. The goal of DAA treatment is to prevent risk of rupture associated to a high mortality. The risk of rupture depends on the location, type, and etiology of the aneurysm.Atherosclerosis has the main etiology of digestive aneurysms, followed by mycotic and post-traumatic aneurysms. Fibromuscular dysplasia remains a rare and poorly understood entity.Surgical treatment is the therapy of choice. Endovascular techniques have developed and are being used successfully. They have indications more and more wide in the treatment of aneurisms of the digestive arteries.The advent of endovascular treatment has significantly increased the percentage of patients treated for aneurysm of the digestive arteries, thus reducing morbidity and mortality in patients at high surgical risk.

This study was carried out to determine the in-vitro anti-oxidant, anti-diabetic and phytochemical constituents of the methanolic leaves extract of Citrullus colocynthis. The results of this study show that Citrullus colocynthish has strong antioxidant potentials against various radicals. The extract concentration-dependently scavenges DPPH radicals with IC50 of 357.14µg/ml compared to 16.32µg/ml of standard gallic acid, scavenge nitric oxide radicals with IC50 of 234µg/ml compared to 20.5µg/ml of standard ascorbic acid and has 20% activity of standard ascorbic acid ferric reducing power. The extract also inhibited induction of lipid peroxidation and ?-Amylase activity in a concentration-dependent manner in cell free assays with highest concentration of the extract inhibiting lipid peroxidation and ?-Amylase activity by 72% at 500µg/ml and 91% at 250µg/ml respectively. The phytochemical constituents of the extract were determined, qualitative assays employed revealed the presence of various phytochemicals in the extract and the amount of total phenolics, flavonoids and flavonol were found to be 58.76mg GAE/g, 2.01mg RE/g and 0.13mg RE/g respectively. Gas-chromatography analysis of the extract revealed the possible presence of albumin, ascorbic acid, beta carotene, vicilins, tocotrienols, lutin, 2-tetradcyclobutane, 2-dodecyclobutane. The presence of phenolics and various antioxidant compounds in the plants may explain the strong pharmacological potentials of the plant.

The mathematical model CFD, presented in this study, which was designed to evaluate the performance and characteristics of STPP in Baghdad city (Iraq) with the compound parabolic concentrator (CPC) as a variant of the solar collector. For the purpose of performance analysis and simulations, many expensive and complex programs are usually used, but these tools are directed to perform initial assessments of performance efficiency and feasibility of the project in terms of the output temperature of the solar field and output power generation. To study the solar stations properly, accurate information about the weather, climate and work environment should be available, as well as extensive data on the solar radiation values of the geographical area on which the project will be set up.

Cardiac involvement is the leading cause of death in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), including cardiac arrhythmias that increase the risk of sudden death. The purpose of our work is to study the prevalence of heart complications in this population and to propose better cardiac and nephrological management.A total of 92 patients with CKD participated in the study, in the Department of Renal Dialysis and Renal Transplantation the Mohammed V Military Training Hospital in Rabat, the mean age of the patients was 50 years ± 16.55 with extremes ranging from 34 to 76 years, sex ratio was 1.1(H / F). Causal nephropathy is indeterminate in 48% of cases, 58% of our patients are hypertensive; 64% had cardiac arrhythmias; the electrical abnormalities were respectively: left ventricular hypertrophy in 41,4% of cases, left atrial hypertrophy in 9,2 % of cases, atrial fibrillation in 5,5 % of cases and repolarization disorders respectivelyin 12 % of cases.

The association of a posterior dislocation of the radial head with a diaphyseal fracture of the ipsilateral radius is uncommon condition. We report a rare case of a fracture-traumatic luxation of the radial head associated with a diaphysary fracture of homolateral radius in 52 old patient.
