Corrosion Characteristics of Cetyl Trimethyl Ammonium Bromide for Carbon Steel in Hydrochloric Acid Solutions
Cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) is tested as corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel in different concentration of hydrochloric acid medium and at different temperature. Corrosion rate and Percentage Corrosion Inhibition Efficiency (PCIE) was measured by weight loss method, Electrochemical polarization and Impedance spectroscopy techniques. Surface study of corroded and blank specimens was carried out by SEM and Metallurgical Research Microscopy techniques. 100, 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1000 ppm of Cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide was tested in different concentration of HCl solution i.e. 2.0, 1.0 and 0.1 N. It was observed that percentage corrosion inhibition efficiency increases with increase in concentration of corrosion inhibitor. Effect of temperature on percentage corrosion inhibition efficiency was also investigated. As the temperature increases percentage corrosion inhibition efficiency decreases. It is observed that percentage corrosion inhibition efficiency decreases with dilution of HCl. CTAB acts as a very good inhibitor for Carbon Steel in different hydrochloric acid medium.

Comparison of Ground Water Quality with Leachate from Municipal Solid Waste Dumpsites
Vijayawada city of Andhra Pradesh, India is a rapidly growing city both technologically and demographically. A sudden growth of population coupled with poor infrastructure and inadequate waste management services is bound to create problems in the public health sector. A long-term ground water quality monitoring at Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) dumpsites is important to the protection of aquifer. The effect of dumpsites on ground water is often detrimental and the cumulative effects may not be visible for many years. Ground water and leachate near the two major dump sites of Vijayawada were used for monthly monitoring to identify the impacts..

Experimental investigation and optimization of parameters of a new designed flat plate cavity collector
This paper deals with the performance analysis and optimization of working parameters of a flat plate solar cavity collector. Cavity type configuration is an improved version of a flat plate collector. It is evident that every solar gadget need a little bit of improvement in order to perform well. Various experiments both theoretical and experimental are going on in various countries to achieve better performance of flat plate collector. Hence the better choice for the improvement of flat plate collector is the cavity collector. Usually the cavity type configuration is utilized for focusing, solar tower and Fresnel lens collectors. But it was experimented for the flat plate improvement and hence it is proved to be a one of the alternate solution for the flat plate collector. It also works more efficiently even at low radiation source for a certain period of time and at part cloudy days. Solar Cavity Collector (SCC) has been experimented with various working parameters like change of receiver material (Copper and Aluminum), various L/D ratio, change of inclination angle, change of mode of flow (parallel and serpentine), collector packed with pebble bed and metal chips to enhance the heat transfer phenomena in the collector, by increasing the number of cavities and Collector with end plates. End plates were welded at entry and exit of the receiver pipes to stagnate the water for a while inside the collector.

Knowledge of Birth Preparedness and Complication Readiness: Male Perspective in Benin City, Edo State
Nigeria contributes 14% to the global estimate of maternal deaths. The role of men in maternal and child health interventions is understudied despite the crucial and indispensable role they play. This study was carried out to assess knowledge of birth preparedness and complication readiness (BPACR) and associated factors among male respondents in Benin City, with a view to improving their participation and support in maternal and child health interventions. A community based analytical cross sectional study was conducted in Benin City. Interviewer administered pretested structured questionnaires were used to interview 237 consenting male partners/family members of pregnant women in selected communities in Benin City. Data collected was sorted for completeness, coded, entered and analysed using SPSS version 20.0 statistical software. Results were presented as pros, tables and figures; bivariate and multivariate analysis was carried out in line with study objective, statistical significance was set at p?0.050 and 95% confidence interval. The mean age of male respondents studied was 37.8 ± 9.9 years, 191(75.8%) of them were in the Upper Socio-economic class (SEC) while 61(24.2%) in Lower SEC. In relation to knowledge of BPACR, 219(92.4%) of them had good knowledge while 18(7.6%) had fair knowledge of BPACR. Awareness of BP (OR=0.131; 95% (CI) 0.051 - 0.334; p <0.001) was the only significant predictor identified that influenced knowledge of BPACR. Respondents who never heard of Birth Preparedness (BP) were 7.7 times less likely of having good knowledge of BPACR than those who had heard of BP. Majority of respondents had good knowledge of BPACR. There is need to sustain this level of knowledge on BPACR, through regular awareness and sensitization programmes involving men as relevant stakeholders needed for the success of maternal and child health interventions.

Activated Carbon Prepared from Rice Husk: Nitric Acid Modification and BTX Adsorption
Activated carbons (AC) prepared from rice husk by KOH activation in inert atmosphere at 750 and 850 0C were modified with nitric acid. Activation at 850 0C resulted in better pore development and was confirmed by SEM, Boehm titration and BET. The modification by nitric acid could reduce the particle size while enhance the amount of hydroxyl and carbonyl groups on the surface of AC samples. Bath adsorption of benzene, toluene and m-xylene (BTX) as well as dynamic adsorption of m-xylene were measured in order to evaluate the performance of AC for removing volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The results showed that AC sample prepared at 850 oC (RH-850) exhibited the best benzene adsorption capacity of 11.62 mmol g-1 in bath adsorption and m-xylene adsorption capacity of 9.140 mmol g-1 in dynamic adsorption at 50 0C.
