The efficiencies of activated carbons prepared from oil cake of Sesamum Indicum by thermal and sulphuric acid activation wereinvestigated for the removal of Cd(II) ions from aqueous solutions. Various parameters as a function of contact time, initialpH, initial adsorbent dosage and metal ion concentrations were studied. The optimum time required for the maximum removal of Cd(II) was found to be 1 hr for TAGOC and 2 hrs for STGOC. The equilibrium adsorption data were fitted to Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherm models. The equilibrium adsorption isotherms showed that activated carbon has high affinity and sorption capacity for Cd(II) with monolayer sorption capacities of 44.92 mg/g for TAGOC and 35.97 mg/g for STGOC. The kinetic study indicated that the pseudo-second order rate equation better described the adsorption process. The adsorbent efficiency was also tested for the removal of Cd(II), Cu(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) from synthetic electroplating wastewater. The results indicated that the prepared both activated carbons are efficient (99.9%), alternative low-cost adsorbent for the removal of Cd(II) and other metal ions from waste water.

Gas carburizing is the most widely used surface hardening process for number of automobile and other heavy duty machinery components made up of ferrous material. Itis a complex process and many literatures shows that the defects are due to shape distortion and volume change. This work attempts to minimize the extent of those defects in gas carburized automobile parts through Taguchi’s DOE approach. The optimum combination of parameters which will alleviate the distortion problems are obtained through the response graph method. The results are compared with that obtained from S/N ratio method. The studies are validated through experiments. In addition the present study shows that the introduction of optimal conditions and elimination of straightening operation saves time and money.

Patients are expected to adhere to physician treatment recommendations. Noncompliance to prescription medication is however often problematic in the elderly for different reasons. The consequence of failure to follow medical treatment may lead to increased medical costs, hospitalizations, and even death. The elderly average 12.7 prescriptions per year, consume 30% of prescription medications, spend $15 billion annually, and receive eight or more medications per day. This qualitative study involved a phenomenological design, as the aim was to explore pharmacological noncompliance by those under the treatment of a licensed medical practitioner. The participants included a purposeful sample of 20 elderly African Americans for this study, from the state of Wisconsin in the United States, drawn from the congregation of an inner city Church. The open-ended nature of the questions facilitated participants to provide insights into a personal medical condition and deeper conversations associated with medication compliance. The normative decision-making theory served to underpin the study and aid acquiring a deeper understanding of the motivations that drive, or constrain compliance to medication. The analysis of the data took place after completion of the interviewing process. The interviews conducted were recorded, coded, transcribed, and categorized to facilitate the analysis of the data using an appropriate qualitative data analytical software program. The findings of the study drawn from an analysis of the interviews of patient, aided in gaining a deeper understanding of compliance to physician directives in pharmacologic treatment by participants in this study.

This study was a quantitative one that aimed at examining any probable relationship between two fundamental constructs in the area of language pedagogy. These constructs were EFL teacher’S self-efficacy and tacher empowerment. The participants of this study were 80 female and male language EFL teachers who were working at ten language institutes in Shiraz, Marvdasht and Zarghan. They were selected via convenience sampling method due to some restrictions. The study was conducted utilizing two questionnaires. There was an efficacy scale by of Tschannen-Moran and Woolfolk Hoy (2001) and an empowerment questionnaire by Short and Rienehart (1992). To obtain the result, the researchers run Pearson Correlation. The result showed a significant correlation between the two constructs at 0.05.

Nowadays, empowerment, as well-known tool that managers by it will be able, today's organizations that have features such as a variety of channels through growing reliance on horizontal structure and partner networks, little difference directors and employees of each other, and reduce organizational affiliation are run efficiently. Therefore, this study seeks to answer the question of which factors affecting the staff empowerment, job satisfaction for them now, the are. The influence of the factors affecting empowerment, job satisfaction and, as a case study, the staff of the Ayandeh bank , using the so-called correlation, and the questionnaire is analyzed. The sample size of the study population according to the investigations, about 460 of them are, according to Cochran formula, was estimated at 210 people. In this study, after collecting data from test to test, Pearson (Pearson), to determine the extent and degree of the relationship between two variables is used. Results indicate that, competency, job satisfaction among the staff of the Ayandeh bank , self-organizing job satisfaction, effectiveness, job satisfaction, a sense of meaning, job satisfaction and trust in others, job satisfaction, respectively, with the significant 0/028, 0/003, 0/04, 0/048, 0/002, A significant and positive relationship, and so all hypotheses of the study were approved.

Interspecific and intergeneric hybridization studies were carried out in H.longifilis, C. gariepinus and C.anguillaris under controlled hatchery conditions to estimate their aquaculture potential in terms of fertilizability, hatchability and survival. Fertilization rate in all the nine genetic crosses ranges from 60-87.5%, the fertilization rates of the parentals being significantly higher (P<0.05) with highest value of 87.5% obtained in C.gariepinus. The intergeneric hybrids had the lowest rate of fertilization. Hatchability ranges between 75- 88.1% ,with the parental C.anguillaris being slightly significantly higher than the other genetic combinations. C .a x H. l had the lowest hatchability and their was no significant difference (P<0.05) in percent hatching among the interspecific hybrids. The survival rate in all the nine genetic crosses from hatching up to the end of the two weeks indoor rearing period ranges between 78-89%, which wasn’t significantly different among the interspecific and intergeneric hybrids. C. anguillaris and C. gariepinus had the highest percent survival which was significantly different from all the other mating combinations. The intergeneric hybrid had significantly greater (P<0.05) larval length in comparison to the interspecific hybrids. H .longifilis and the hybrids produced from its eggs had significantly greater body weight than that of C. gariepinus and C. anguillaris.

Foreign direct investment acts as a major medium in the development of a country through up-gradation of technical know how, managerial skills and financial resources. Rise in purchasing power, growing consumption and brand flare-up has led to transformation in retail sector. FDI in retail can enlarge market by reducing operation and transformation cost of business through implementation of advanced supply chain and benefit consumers and suppliers. As well as raised concerns about employment losses, increase in competition for domestic retailers resulting in closing of small domestic retailers from the market and distortion of urban culture development. The present paper focuses on the Indian retail sector in context of opportunities of expansion of FDI in Indian retail sector and the challenges come forward that retail sector faces.

A study was conducted to assess the impact of the distance education courses on dairy and goat farming on knowledge gained, skills obtained and economic benefits attained by the learners, based on the data collected from 100 respondents randomly selected. A majority of the respondents gained knowledge in credit / insurance (96.50%), housing systems (95.33%), farm economics (83.67%), clean milk production (82.67%), calf rearing (81.67%) and feed and feeding methods (80.33%). The respondents with small herd size (<6.07 cattle units) increased their cattle units by 2.06, while medium farmers (6.07 to 9.10 cattle units) increased farm size by 3.38 cattle and large farmers (>9.10 cattle units) by 5.66 cattle. Further, the small farmer respondents gained a daily average milk yield of 1.64 litres, while medium farmers gained a milk yield of 1.69 litres and large farmers 1.47 litres, with the percentage gain ranging between 48.34 and 66.17. The respondents in small farmer category gained an additional income of Rs.24,637.50 per annum through sale of milk, while medium and large farmers gained Rs.28,554.23 and Rs.53,029.29 per annum, respectively. The per cent gain ranged from 73.38 (medium farmer) to 122.26 (small farmer). There was a highly significant gain in production and income in all categories of farmers with respect to farm size, milk yield, sale of milk, dung and animals and net change in the value of stock.

The China is performing better than India in research. The status of research on medicinal plants in both the countries was studied using Science Citation Index (SCI) database. In this communication, we present a bibliometric analysis of Indian and Chinese research papers published on medicinal plants. The scientometics revealed that in spite of the poor performance in overall science-research, India is doing better in medicinal plant research.
