Crimped steel fibres with varying aspect ratio in the range of 30-60 were added in M-20 Concrete specimens. The fibre percentage chosen for study was 1% by volume. The concrete specimens were tested for 7 day, 14 day and 28 day compressive strength, flexural strength and splitting tensile strength and the results obtained were compared with those of normal concrete mix without fibres. The results concluded that the addition of 1% fibres with an aspect ratio of 50 leads to maximum improvement in early as well as long term compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexural strength of concrete.

An analytical study is performed to investigate the effects of chemical reaction and radiation on unsteady MHD flow past an exponentially accelerated vertical plate with variable temperature and variable mass diffusion in the presence heat source or sink under the influence of applied transverse magnetic field. It is assumed that the effect of viscous dissipation is negligible in the energy equation and there is a first order chemical reaction between the diffusing species and the fluid. The flow is assumed to be in - direction which is taken along the infinite vertical plate in the upward direction and -axis is taken normal to the plate. At time >0, the both temperature and species concentration levels near the plate are raised linearly with time time t. A general exact solution of the governing partial differential equations is obtained by usual Laplace transform technique. The velocity, temperature and concentration fields are studied for different physical parameters like thermal Grashof number (Gr), mass Grashof number (Gm), Schmidt number (Sc), Prndtl number (Pr), radiation parameter (R), magnetic field parameter (M), accelerated parameter (a), heat source parameter (H), chemical reaction parameter (K) and time (t) are studied through graphs and tables.

This paper examines the relationships between entry mode, corporate characteristics, and performance of foreign firms in Japan. The entry mode classified into wholly ownership subsidiaries and joint ventures (JVs) subsidiaries. The profitability determined by adjusted net profit ratio to measure the integrated profitability. By using financial data of 319 foreign corporations in Japan, we conclude that the profitability of joint venture ownership is better than wholly ownership for manufacturing companies while wholly ownership is better than joint venture ownership for non-manufacturing companies. In addition, the profitability of joint ventures with minority ownership is the best entry mode for manufacturing companies and equally ownership for non-manufacturing companies in Japan.

This study was performed to evaluation of yield components of 20 wheat genotypes under water deficit. Experiment was conducted with a split plot design. The main factor included normal and deficit irrigation (drought: 40% of field capacity) and sub-plots included 10 wheat genotypes Chamran, Marvdasht (Iran’s cultivars), N14 and N49 (Iran Landrace related to the eastern regions of Central and South Western), C15 and 168 (Babax), 169 (Seri), C4, C6 and C14 (lines of Babax /seri) also booting stage was applied for drought stress. Some of traits were investigated that included: Biological yield, Seed yield, Harvest index, seed number, 1000seed weight. According to analysis of variance, it was founded that all studied traits affected by drought stress, also there were significant differences between cultivars in responses to stress. Means comparisons showed that highest seed yield was obtained by 169, 168, C6, C15, Chamran, Marvdasht and C16 at normal condition and in drought condition Marvdasht cultivars had lowest seed yield. Highest and lowest yield reductions were obtained by 169 and N49, respectively. In relation to biological yield and at normal condition, 169 and 168 showed highest means and at stress condition highest value observed by 168. The highest harvest index under normal irrigation belonged to C14, C6, Marvdasht, 169, 168 and C15. N49 harvest index was higher in drought conditions in compare to normal condition. Under drought deficit, most grain number was obtained by Chamran, 168, N14, C6 and C15 genotypes. Also, the highest 1000 seed weight were observed by C4, C14 and C6 under normal irrigation, however all genotypes showed significant reduction and N49, 169, C14, C4 and Marvdasht had the highest 1000seed weight under drought stress.

The watershed algorithm is a commonly used method of solving the image segmentation problem. Watershed based image segmentation is selected for the implementation, as it exhibits least computational complexity, good segmentation quality and can be implemented in the FPGA. This paper proposes a new parallel watershed based image segmentation technique and its architecture is implemented on Virtex-4 FPGA board. The results show that the proposed architecture requires minimum hardware resources, low execution time and is also suitable for use in real time applications.

The Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and FT-Raman of 2-Amino thiazole (2-AT) have been recorded and analyzed. The equilibrium geometry, bonding features and harmonic vibrational frequencies have been investigated with the help of ab initio and density functional theory (DFT) methods. The assignments of the vibrational spectra have been carried out. The optimized geometric bond lengths and bond angles obtained by computation show good agreement with experimental data of the relative compound. The computed parameters also show good agreement with experimental data. The calculated HOMO and LUMO energies also show that charge transfer occurs within the molecule. Stability of the molecule arising from hyperconjugative interactions, charge delocalization have been analyzed using natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis. The results show that charge in electron density (ED) in the ?* and ?* antibonding orbital and second order delocalization energies E(2) confirms the occurrence of intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) within the molecule. Finally the calculations results were applied to simulated infrared and Raman spectra of the title compound which show good agreement with observed spectra.

Born in Tehran in 1937, Tanavoli benefited from Reza Shah Pahlavi’s quest for modernization/westernization. After Western-style art education had been introduced to Iran, Tanavoli graduated as the first student from the new sculpture programme at the Tehran School of Arts in 1956. Subsequently he went to Italy in order to study under the well-known sculptor Marino Marini (1901–1980). Marini’s awareness of the past traditions of his native country, and their incorporation into his contemporary work, led Tanavoli to explore his own cultural heritage and to search for a style suitable to express Persia’s past achievements in a modern way. Recurring themes in Tanavoli’s sculpture consistently contain references to the human figure, evident both in the upright sculptural forms and their titles. Tanavoli progressively replaces any descriptive figurative features with cultural symbols. This fusion of human and cultural emblems is an enduring characteristic of Tanavoli’s powerful sculptural statements. Each work imbues special meaning like Persian poetry, which is more concerned with subjective interpretation of reality than with its external manifestations. It is this quality that is embraced in a wide range of works and revealed in Lovers, Beloved, Prophet and Poets. His signature series 'Heech' has found its place in various prestigious museums and galleries worldwide. Red Heech (below) is in the British Museum, London. Tanavoli, at 74, is as productive as ever. The exhibition is drawn entirely from the artist’s collection and features a number of works never seen before. He has taken part in several international group exhibitions and is one of the most popular artists at auctions.

This study deals with the History of the Mullai-Periyar Water Dispute

Biochemical studies of the individual plant parts is a necessary prerequisite in order to evaluate their importance in the over all metabolism of the plant. In the present study various plant parts of selected 15 medicinal plants were evaluated, separately for their metabolite content. Maximum amount of total soluble sugars and lipids were present in S.emarginatus, starch in D.indica, protein in P.niruri and phenols in A.squamosa. The seeds of all the experimental plants showed more content of metabolites as compared to the other plant parts.

This paper presents the results of a survey questionnaire that was administered to sample, to investigate those factors that are enormously influencing patriotism among Pakistani youth. In this regard related literature was reviewed and required data was collected from the sample of 84 with the help of questionnaire. Sample consists of young students of various educational levels as well as teachers. The study shows that these factors are not only essential for the stability and serenity of Pakistan but are also facilitative in order to impart loyalty, devotion, dedication and love for the nation in the hearts of Pakistani youth.
