The present investigation was aimed to asses the amount of leaching plastic material, if any, into tea from disposable plastic cups. Fifty plastic cups were analyzed for the study, and thickness of cups was in the range of 70 – 90 µm (micron meter). The determination of leaching procedure was done through making difference in weight of used and unused cups through electronic weighing balance. First of all, weights of fresh unused cups were measured then measurements of weights of cups were taken after using hot tea. The tea was kept in cups for 10 minutes assuming that any person finishes tea after 10 minutes. The temperature of tea was measured 100°c at the time of serving. The weight of fresh unused cups and the weight of used served with hot tea cups were analyzed. The weight of used cups served with hot tea showed significant (P < 0.05) decreased in the weight as compared to fresh unused cups. The significant decrease in the weight of used cups showed the leaching of plastic material into tea. The results in this study indicated that the leaching of plastic material from cups into hot tea and the amount of plastic material leached was in the range of 1.5 – 2.0 mg per cup from < 1gram of cup.

Leadership is vital in raising and maintaining educational standards, providing clear leadership for staff and students, running the school effectively, and helping develop the ethos and vision for the school as a whole. The study sought to assess the perceived influences of leadership styles on students’ performance, investigate the leadership roles and practices school administrators adopt to improve students’ achievements, elicit the viewpoints of school administrators, teachers and students on their preferred leadership styles. The study adopted a descriptive study design. A total of 286 respondents were sampled from a total population of 6,425. Simple random sampling procedure was used to sample students and teachers, while all the six (6) head teachers of the selected schools were used for the study.

Lipoleiomyomas are unusually rare variant of uterine myomas. Its incidence varied from 0.03% to 0.2%. Lipoleiomyomas occur in different locations including cervix and ovaries. These tumors are benign and histological findings being composed of benign smooth muscle and mature adipose tissue. Clinically it is similar to leiomyomas, and most of lipoleiomyomas are asymptomatic requires no treatment.

In recent times, the traditional methods of providing information services are changing, and also, the performance of library tasks is undergoing a major change process. Libraries are thus being transformed from book centered to information centered institutions, and emphasis is shifting from book collection and storage to access and provision of electronic information services. Therefore this paper examined the role of Library as a way to develop and maintain collections of materials in all formats and to make the materials available to all users. The integration of both print and non-print resources into the library system in the 21st century will go a long way in providing necessary information to users. Availability of various forms of print and non- print resources and their effects were discussed in this paper. This paper discussed the challenges associated with managing print and non-print information resources in colleges of education libraries in Nigeria. The study concluded that for academic library to function effectively, they should collaborate with relevant institutions and adopt the best strategies that will enhance the management of print and non-print information resources for sustainable national educational development in the country.

Nigerians in my view are a people who live beside the ocean yet, dying of thirst. Our beloved country is blessed with both human and natural resources but her rate of poverty is one that is alarming. In the area of science and technology she is rich abroad but poor at home. Every year, her universities produce graduates who continue to roam the streets in search of white collar jobs. Gradually, the harsh and unpleasant economic situation sows evil seeds in the hearts of these youths thereby, taking to crimes. A people born free now find themselves everywhere in chains. Hopeless as she may seem today, Nigeria is however, not beyond redemption. Critically yes, but not entirely hopeless. To pull her back and turn her around obviously requires a change of ideology. Should we continue to do same thing the same way and expect a different result? How long shall we continue to be slaves in our father’s palace? Mills conception of liberty provides a way out of our national predicament as this essay adopts both analytic and evaluative methods in establishing that liberty would make the people to be creative and innovative, thereby bring about the needed technological breakthrough.

With growing evidence regarding the association between oral health and respiratory disease, oral physician responsibility to provide top quality care is mandatory. By staying up to-date and using research available, oral physicians will be able to have the knowledge and skills to carry out proper assessment of patient, management, and prevention of the disease. Through this knowledge, the oral physicians will be able to educate patients regarding specific risk factors responsible for developing respiratory diseases and their prevention to avoid further complications. Besides, it will help to identify and manage those patients with associated problems. Oral physician should stay update with current research available, in order to educate the public and patients regarding the significance of good oral health.

This study focused on the impact of ICTs usage on the performance of women entrepreneurs in the South Western States of Nigeria .The purpose of the research was to highlight the types of ICTs tools frequently used by women entrepreneurs and its effect on their performances. A total of 120 women entrepreneurs who were randomly selected participated in the study and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results indicated that the use of mobile phones, television, radio, magazines and newspapers are the tools frequently used by entrepreneurs while internet services, electronic mails and computers are underutilized due to the fact that they are expensive and also because majority of the women entrepreneurs lack computer skills. Furthermore, it was discovered that mobile phones being one of the ICTs tools are sources of cheaper and faster communication and majority of the respondents believed that it has contributed positively to their performances. However, it was concluded that women entrepreneurs’ use of ICT infrastructure and systems in South-Western Nigeria is limited and even the ones in use are not widely explored and channeled for business development. Therefore, the study recommended that efforts should be made by governments and service providers to ensure that women entrepreneurs are made aware of new ICT applications and innovative services that are of use to the business sector. Also, government should ensure prompt and adequate electricity supply in order to overcome the problems of incessant power failure which served as a major challenge to the usage of ICTs tools by the entrepreneurs.

This paper discusses the phonemic changes that EkeGusii EkeGusii loanwords from English undergo in the process of being accommodated into the EkeGusii phonological system. The data used in the paper is from native speakers of EkeGusii and Optimality Theory (here after OT) is used in the analysis of the data. This paper is different from most papers of its kind in that it uses a constraint based theoretic framework unlike others which either do not use any theoretical framework or use rule based theories when they do . The paper focuses on vocalic and consonantal phonemic changes that EkeGusii loanwords from English undergo in order to be accommodated into EkeGusii phonological structure. For example, the paper analyzes whether English Phonemes maintain their features or phonemic status upon entering EkeGusii phonology given that some phonological processes such voice dissimilation affect EkeGusii and not English. The question the paper seeks to answer is; do these processes affect EkeGusii loanwords from English? For example, the English word tractor /tr?.kt?/ is nativized as /ke.ra.?i.ta/ [ke.ra.?i.ta]. As can be observed, there is voice dissimilation between [k] and [ r] and [?] and [t] in the nativized form. This is explained by Dahl’s law of dissimilation.

The world energy demand is on the increase allowing many countries to find a viable solution to this quandary. Many of such countries are adopting a way to deal with such crisis by considering other conservative means of source of energy. One of such country having difficult to generate enough energy for its economic growth is Ghana. Currently Ghana’s total installed electricity generation capacity stands at 1810MW, with her population estimated to be 24.4 million, based on the 2010 census. Therefore, there is the need for a radical change in energy mix to propel the country’s economic growth. For a brighter future, the country must explore unconditional means to secure cheap and reliable energy resource to satiate the desire of future industrial accomplishments. In this regard, nuclear energy is a descent choice without compromising environmental quality. Given that nuclear power is an important choice in the face of the threat of climate change, the public’s perceptions need to be changed at any cost considering the catastrophic accident at Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in March 2011. This paper addresses subjective uncertainty on health effect in hypothetical release using accident analysis code MACCS2 to estimate TEDE (total effective dose equivalent) for postulated accident scenario. The code is for preliminary work on the proposed AP1000 MW(e) NPP at the proposed site, Volta Point Unit 1 in Akosombo, Ghana.

In recent time, proniosomal and noisomal system have been received a great attention in drug delivery applications as well as in pharmaceutical research. In order to minimize the problems associated with niosome physical stability such as aggregation, fusion and leaking and to provide additional convenience in transportation, distribution, storage and dosing etc, a dry product can be prepared, which is called proniosome. Proniosomes are dry formulation using suitable carrier coated with nonionic surfactants and can be converted into niosomes immediately before use by hydration. These proniosome-derived niosomes are as good as or even better than conventional niosomes. The current review deals with the trends, different aspects and the future perspective in the development of proniosomal drug delivery systems.
