The purpose of this study was to examine gender and age differences in computer usage, competence, attitudes, self-efficacy, and anxiety among teachers. Four hundred and sixty five teachers (223 females and 242 males aged 20 to 50 years) from twenty rural schools in south Jordan participated in the study. The data for the study were collected through the use of quantitative method. The results illustrated some gender and age differences in computer use, competence, attitudes, self-efficacy, and anxiety. However, the differences in computer use between male and female teachers are not similar. Males’ teachers typically had higher scores than females’ teachers in the use of computer for educational purposes. In addition, males’ teachers tend to have higher levels of computer self-efficacy and computer competence than females’ teachers. Likewise, both genders exhibited the same levels of attitudes towards computer use. Females’ teachers seem to have higher levels of computer anxiety than males’ teachers do. Finally, general age differences in computer use, competence, attitudes, self-efficacy, and anxiety among teachers were also found. The outcomes confirm the findings of other studies conducted in different educational settings regarding teachers’ gender and age differences in computer use, competence, attitudes, self-efficacy, and anxiety. Consequently, implications of the study give valuable insight to the future use of computers in schools. Recommendations were made based on findings.

This paper investigated gender balance and the Generative Instructional Strategy (GIS) on students’ achievement in reading comprehension in senior secondary schools in Ekiti State. 120 randomly selected students in Ekiti State public secondary schools participated in the study. The quasi-experimental design was adopted in the study. For pre-test and post-test, the same comprehension passages were administered. Data was collected through the use of the research instrument titled Reading Comprehension Achievement Test (RCAT). Two hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. Collected data were analysed using t-test. The study revealed that there was no significant effect of gender on the achievement of students exposed to Generative Instructional Strategy in reading comprehension. It was therefore recommended that Generative Instructional Strategy be adopted by English language teachers in Ekiti State and used in the teaching and learning of reading comprehension in the classroom.

Dipotassium sodium tetraborate octahydrate- K2Na[B4O5(OH)4]2 .8H2O (KNB) is an intriguing crystal for laser frequency conversion. It was grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique at ambient temperature. The investigated crystal is crystallized into noncentrosymmetric orthorhombic axial P212121 space group. Fundamental optical phonon modes were identified and the assignments were proposed.The dependence of second order optical susceptibilities with the applied d.c field strength for two principal geometries was studied. Piezooptical coefficients for the diagonal Pxxxx and off-diagonal Pxxzz tensor components under applied dc-field also were measured and discussed. Correlation between the anisotropy of the obtained spectra and of the observed nonlinear optical susceptibilities was established.

A new centrosymmetric semi organic crystal of 2-amino pyridine potassium chloride (2-APKC) was grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique at room temperature for the first time. Powder XRD study reveals the crystalline natures of the grown sample. Single crystal XRD study shows that the grown crystal is cubic systems of a= b= c= 6.19 Å; and ? = ? = ? = 90? with cell volume 237Å3. FTIR spectral study identifies the chemical composition and their corresponding functional groups of the grown crystal 2-APKC. UV–visible NIR spectral study confirms the absorption band in the range 250-800 nm with lower cutoff wave length at 320 nm. Thermal, dielectric and photoconductivity studies of grown crystals were done and discussed. SHG efficiency of the as-grown centrosymmetric crystal is confirmed first time by the Kurtz powder technique.

Abstract Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a family of structurally related proteins that degrade most if not all components of the extracellular matrix and basement membranes in a zinc dependent manner at a physiological PH. Cadmium is one of environmental pollutants arising from electroplating, fertilizers, pigment and plastic manufactures, most animals with scrotal testes are susceptible to cadmium–induced testicular toxicity. In this sense, This study conducted to investigate the effect of cadmium chloride (CdCl2) injection with different dose on the quantitative expression of MMP-2 and immunohistochemistry of male rats testes. 30 male Wister rats were conducted in this study , control group received saline IP (n = 10), CdCl2 treated group (n=10) were injected IP with of 5 mg/kg B.W., the third group (n= 10) which injected IP of CdCl2 in dose 10 mg / kg BW. The injections were twice per week continued for 3 weeks. The animals were euthanized and testicular tissues were collected and used for RNA extraction and real time PCR for quantitative expression of MMP-2 and immunohistochemical demonstration. We have found MMP-2 in control groups expressed in the leydig cells and sertoli cells and different stages of spermatogenesis. After injection of CdCl2 (5mg) of male rats showed decrease the quantity and expression of MMP-2 in the testicular tissue P<0.05 compare with control group, the group injected with (10mg) CdCl2 recorded more decrease of MMP-2 expression (P<0.01). In conclusion, our results highlight that cadmium directly cause reduction the quantity of MMP-2 in the testes without induced any inflammation in testicular tissue, the reduction of MMP-2 interfere with down regulation of reproductive activity that may lead to infertility due to environmental exposure to toxic metals of male.

It is a perennial softwood tree with timber of low quality, but which for centuries has been advocated for traditional medicinal and industrial uses Moringa Oleifera is an ideal plant to promote at the household level because it is extremely resilient to harsh growing environments, including drought, poor soil quality and many pests and diseases. It is a complete food in itself. Everything about the moringa oleifera is nutritious. You can eat the cooked leaves, shoots, pulp and seeds. This study seeks to determine the profitability of Moringa oleifera production with a particular reference to the socio economic characteristics of the farmers in the study area. The area covered by this study is Isokan Local Government Area of Osun state. Data for this study were collected from primary source. primary data were colleted using structured questionnaires. A combination of analytical tools were employed. They include descriptive statistics such has mean. frequency and distribution, percentages, budgetary analysis and Tobit model. This study therefore recommends that more technologically improved methods of processing, packaging and preservations should be adopted and encouraged for economic efficiency.

Biodiesel production encountered many problems such as low energy balance and food verses energy problems. To solve these problems in-situ transesterification of Jatropha curcas seed oil was carried out, with 1:1 (v/v) of n-hexane – methanol co-solvent and calcium oxide derived from egg-shell as catalyst at 65? temperature for 2 hours. The soxhlet extraction apparatus was used and the effect of catalyst doses was studied, it was found that all the catalyst used in this research produced fatty acid methyl esters (biodiesel) with acceptable fuel properties with the exception of acid value which is higher than the ASTM biodiesel standard limit. GC/MS results revealed that Jatropha curcas oil biodiesel consists of 9-Octadecenoic acid (Z) - methyl ester, Octadecanoic acid, methyl ester, 9,12-Octadecadienoic acid,13-methyl, methyl ester, 8-Octadecenoic acid, methyl ester (E) and Hexadecanoic acid, methyl ester which indicated that this method is an alternative way of biodiesel production with lower energy input as compared to conventional method.

Quality of pharmaceutical is of vital importance for patient safety. The loss of potency may influence the efficacy and safety of pharmaceuticals. This study determines the influence of storage conditions on the shelf life and potency of selected antibiotics. A significant statistical difference was observed across the potency data selected antibiotics brands. The data point out that maximum reduction in shelf life was observed at room temperature as compared with cool temperature. These results authenticated that improper storage conditions resulted in failure to meet product characteristic and specification during shelf life. Optimum storage conditions and procedures ensure that the potency and integrity of medicinal products are maintained throughout their shelf life.
