FPGA Implementation of Parallel and Pipelined Approach of Watershed Image Segmentation Algorithm for Automated Video Survelliance System
The watershed algorithm is a commonly used method of solving the image segmentation problem. Watershed based image segmentation is selected for the implementation, as it exhibits least computational complexity, good segmentation quality and can be implemented in the FPGA. This paper proposes a new parallel watershed based image segmentation technique and its architecture is implemented on Virtex-4 FPGA board. The results show that the proposed architecture requires minimum hardware resources, low execution time and is also suitable for use in real time applications.

Geometry and vibrational analysis of 2-amino thiazole - quantum chemical study
The Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and FT-Raman of 2-Amino thiazole (2-AT) have been recorded and analyzed. The equilibrium geometry, bonding features and harmonic vibrational frequencies have been investigated with the help of ab initio and density functional theory (DFT) methods. The assignments of the vibrational spectra have been carried out. The optimized geometric bond lengths and bond angles obtained by computation show good agreement with experimental data of the relative compound. The computed parameters also show good agreement with experimental data. The calculated HOMO and LUMO energies also show that charge transfer occurs within the molecule. Stability of the molecule arising from hyperconjugative interactions, charge delocalization have been analyzed using natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis. The results show that charge in electron density (ED) in the ?* and ?* antibonding orbital and second order delocalization energies E(2) confirms the occurrence of intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) within the molecule. Finally the calculations results were applied to simulated infrared and Raman spectra of the title compound which show good agreement with observed spectra.

Heech a nothing that is, sculpted in poem by Parviz Tanavoli, Iranian Sculpture
Born in Tehran in 1937, Tanavoli benefited from Reza Shah Pahlavi’s quest for modernization/westernization. After Western-style art education had been introduced to Iran, Tanavoli graduated as the first student from the new sculpture programme at the Tehran School of Arts in 1956. Subsequently he went to Italy in order to study under the well-known sculptor Marino Marini (1901–1980). Marini’s awareness of the past traditions of his native country, and their incorporation into his contemporary work, led Tanavoli to explore his own cultural heritage and to search for a style suitable to express Persia’s past achievements in a modern way. Recurring themes in Tanavoli’s sculpture consistently contain references to the human figure, evident both in the upright sculptural forms and their titles. Tanavoli progressively replaces any descriptive figurative features with cultural symbols. This fusion of human and cultural emblems is an enduring characteristic of Tanavoli’s powerful sculptural statements. Each work imbues special meaning like Persian poetry, which is more concerned with subjective interpretation of reality than with its external manifestations. It is this quality that is embraced in a wide range of works and revealed in Lovers, Beloved, Prophet and Poets. His signature series 'Heech' has found its place in various prestigious museums and galleries worldwide. Red Heech (below) is in the British Museum, London. Tanavoli, at 74, is as productive as ever. The exhibition is drawn entirely from the artist’s collection and features a number of works never seen before. He has taken part in several international group exhibitions and is one of the most popular artists at auctions.

In vivo and in vitro primary metabolite profiling of 15 selected medicinal plants
Biochemical studies of the individual plant parts is a necessary prerequisite in order to evaluate their importance in the over all metabolism of the plant. In the present study various plant parts of selected 15 medicinal plants were evaluated, separately for their metabolite content. Maximum amount of total soluble sugars and lipids were present in S.emarginatus, starch in D.indica, protein in P.niruri and phenols in A.squamosa. The seeds of all the experimental plants showed more content of metabolites as compared to the other plant parts.

Inculcation of patriotism among Pakistani youth
This paper presents the results of a survey questionnaire that was administered to sample, to investigate those factors that are enormously influencing patriotism among Pakistani youth. In this regard related literature was reviewed and required data was collected from the sample of 84 with the help of questionnaire. Sample consists of young students of various educational levels as well as teachers. The study shows that these factors are not only essential for the stability and serenity of Pakistan but are also facilitative in order to impart loyalty, devotion, dedication and love for the nation in the hearts of Pakistani youth.

Introducing the causes of nasal x-ray film requested in patients who referred with nasal trauma
In this research, a descriptive study was done and 190 individual samples as questionnaire forms were collected from general physicians who attended in hospitals, educational and private centers in Kermanshah and Tehran cities, Iran. After collecting the questionnaires, data were analysed using SPSS 13 software and chi-square test. The results showed that in 74.2 % and 68.4 % of cases, nasal x-ray film was requested in patients with the prior history of cosmetic nasal surgery and medicolegal reasons, respectively which is in line with the work done by some researchers [2,3]. There were significant correlations among old nasal fracture, medicolegal reasons and prior history of cosmetic nasal surgery with requesting of nasal x-ray films (P-value <0.01), whereas there were not any significant correlations between requesting of nasal x-ray films and sexuality of physicians or type of centers (private and educational). The causes of nasal x-ray film requesting based on the viewpoint of physicians were: 1) medicolegal reasons, 2) the prior history of cosmetic nasal surgery and 3) old nasal fracture, respectively. According to these results, the frequency of nasal x-ray film requesting is relatively high and more studies in a longer time period are necessary to clarify the causes.

Investigating the effect of deposition time on the morphology, structure and optical band gap of PbS thin films synthesized by CBD technique
Nanocrystalline lead sulphide thin films have been deposited on glass substrates from chemical baths containing lead acetate, sodium hydroxide, ammonia and thiourea at a bath temperature of 90 0C and a pH of about 12. Three different samples were prepared with deposition times of 30, 45 and 60 minutes respectively. The films were characterized using a variety of techniques. X-ray diffraction analyses revealed that all the films were polycrystalline in nature with the diffraction peaks indexed to the face centered cubic structure. The deposition time strongly influenced the preferred orientations of the crystallites as well as structural parameters such as average crystallite size, strain and dislocation density. SEM micrographs of all the films showed a highly compact surface composed of sharp-edged cubic shaped grains of different sizes. The elemental compositions of the films were confirmed by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The optical band gap of the films decreased from 1.32 eV to 1.10 eV with increasing deposition time.

Investigating the separation efficiency of Air-Water-Oil flow in a three phase pipe separator
The possibility of using a three phase pipe separator to separate a mixture of air-water oil was investigated. A 30 ID laboratory based pipe separator was designed, fabricated and installed to study the separation efficiency of air-water-oil mixture. A mixture of air-water-oil flow run through the pipe separator and the separation efficiency calculated in term of the percentage of clean water by volume at the water-rich outlet calculated. The results obtained showed that a clean water stream at the water-rich outlet of the pipe separator is achievable at high water volume fractions and low oil content. This confirmed the possibility that the three phase pipe separator can function as a free water knock-out device.

Magnetohydrodynamic oscillatory Stokes flow past a porous sphere
In this paper, the magnetohydrodynamic oscillatory Stokes flow past a porous sphere has been discussed. A uniform magnetic field is applied transversely to the flow field. Flow outside the porous region is governed by unsteady Stokes equation and Darcy’s law is used in the porous region. Drag and torque are calculated using Faxen’s law. It is observed that the increase or decrease of the drag and torque depends on the effect of magnetic field with variable permeability. The effect of magnetic field on various flow quantities like drag and torque has been observed for uniform oscillatory flow, doublet in uniform flow and oscillating Stokeslet. Graphs are plotted for various measures and results are obtained using these graphs.
