In this paper Taguchi method is applied for determining the effect of process parameters on vortex tube made of Delrin material. An Experimental work is carried out to analyze the performance of vortex tube with five controllable input parameters namely diameter of the orifices, diameter of the nozzles, length of hot tube, tube diameter and inlet pressure. Cold temperature is considered as output parameter. The various parameters like S/N analysis, ANOVA and Optimal Cold Temperature were carried out in order to determine the effects of process parameters and optimal factor settings.

An attempt has been made to evaluate the effect of surface roughness and deformation on the performance of a magnetic fluid based squeeze film in rough porous circular plates considering porous matrix of variable thickness. The stochastic model of Christensen and Tonder has been adopted to characterize the roughness of the bearing system. With appropriate boundary conditions, the associated Reynolds’ type equation has been solved by invoking the dilog function, to derive the expression for pressure distribution resulting in the calculation of load carrying capacity. It is observed that the adverse effect of transverseroughness gets aggravated due to the bearing deformation. But the situation remains fairly improved in the case of negatively skewed roughness for a large range of bearing deformation with a suitable strength of the magnetic field. Further, it is appealing to note that this positive effect gets augmented with a proper selection of thickness ratio parameter associated withvariable film thickness.

We do not choose our parents, and when one parent is impaired by alcohol most of the time, this brings developmental challenges for the young adolescent. Alcoholism occurs in India as in other nations, but here there is a greater sense of shame attached to it. This present study looks at the experience of adolescent sons living with an alcoholic parent by means of a qualitative phenomenological design. The sample were selected using purposive sampling. Thematic network analysis is used to analyse data. This involved organizing the data to three levels reflecting salient themes i.e. basic, organizing and global themes. Semi structured interview with five adolescent aged seventeen to twenty were recruited from Bangalore city. Five global themes emerged form the analysis – need for praise, building self esteem, support, religious faith and belief, being misunderstood by others. What stood out was the boys accepted that alcoholism was a disease and that it was not their father’s fault, and remained loyal to their parents.

Abstract This Molecular docking study aimed to identify the binding site of protonated ligand Tetrakis (4-aminopyridine-kN1) dichloridocopper (II) monohydrate with sphingosine 1-phosphate lyase (S1PL) for the treatment of multiple sclerosis. With the aid of MGL Tools – 1.4.6, the molecular docking analysis shows that the oxygen atom of phenolic O-H group of tyrosine TYR526 interacts with the hydrogen atom of NH group of the ligand. Oxygen atom of water molecule present in the ligand interacts with hydrogen atom of NH group present in glutamine GLN476. In-silico docking study of a protein ligand interaction resulted in -6.11 kcal mol-1 and -6 kcal mol-1 free energy values for the GLN476 - ligand and TYR526 – ligand respectively and the corresponding median Inhibition concentration IC50 value found to be 8µg/ml. This molecular docking study show good inhibitory interaction effect for ligand for the treatment of multiple sclerosis. The objective of this present paper is to analyze the relational thinking process of the Junior High School Students with field-dependent and –independent cognitive styles in solving mathematical problems. Two students were chosen as the research subject, one with dependent- cognitive style, the other, independent cognitive style. The data were collected through in-depth interviews after the subjects solved mathematical problems. All data were video-recorded. The credibility of the data was obtained through meticulous or continuous/consistent observations and time triangulation and analyzed using a flow model consisting of three-path activities occurring simultaneously: data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results of the analysis showed that the relational thinking process of the field dependent student in solving mathematical problems is done by making relation among and in the three core elements: understanding the problem, answering the questions and reviewing, meanwhile, the field independent student, besides building relation among and in the three core elements like the field dependent students, chose some strategies.

Fluid flow in a backward – facing step (BFS) geometry is one of the most important bench mark problems used in computational fluid dynamics (CFD). It consists of an out flow boundary condition. In the present work, the laminar, incompressible flow over backward facing step is being calculated using computational fluid dynamics. The Reynolds number taken for the simulation is 800. For Re = 800, the momentum and energy solutions at various downstream locations are compared with the bench mark results and found to be in good agreement with bench mark results.

Abstract —to support higher data rate optical networks play a vital role. The high bandwidth potential of optical fiber can be explored by exploiting multiplexing techniques like wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and Optical time division multiplexing techniques (OTDM).This paper evaluates the performance of 8 channel WDM and OTDM passive optical network (PON) for 150 km using PIN and APD(avalanche photodiode) receivers. It is found that WDM passive optical network (PON) yields better performance. Hence, it is further investigated for different data rates and modulation formats. It is found that RZ modulation format provides better Max quality factor (Q) than NRZ modulation format up to a distance of 100km.Beyond 100km the Max quality(Q) factor decreases due to dispersion and nonlinearities. The current access networks and next generation passive optical networks (NG PON) has also been reviewed.

The present research paper examines the factors which a company must consider while implementing Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) practices. Three companies from Indian “Food and Beverage” (F&B) sector are examined in their approach to be more sustainable. The research method employed is comparative case study analysis. Semi-structured interviews are held with two relevant managers from each company. Top-management support is crucial for effectively working GSCM practices. Employee involvement is recognized as crucial element of GSCM. An environmental friendly company culture is beneficial and should be derived from the companies’ environmental vision and mission. Collaborations with suppliers are perceived to be productive and essential to develop innovative products.

The present paper describes research undertaken to evaluate the appropriateness of strategic performance measurement (PM) system and processes for small- and medium-sized Indian enterprises (SMEs). An evaluation is undertaken of three case studies to facilitate a performance model for the strategic improvement. This evaluation resulted in the identification of a process, based on its congruency to the theoretical model adopted. Data collected from SMEs is analyzed. The paper concludes with a number of recommendations to facilitate the application of model for SMEs.

Recently in this laboratory the economical, environmental, solvent free, mild and having simple work-up reaction condition was developed for the green synthesis of a novel series of 1-substituted-3-(4-pyridinoimino)thiocarbamides (IIIa-e) having high product yield and avoid treacherous byproducts. The interactions of 4-cyanopyridine (I), concentrated hydrochloric acid and various thiourea (IIa-e) were carried out in microwave oven to synthesize (IIIa-e). The green chemistry parameters were maintained. The synthesized compounds were recrystalised and the structure of synthesized compounds were justified and established on the basis of elemental analysis, chemical characteristics and spectral studies.
