Cellulase is any of the several enzymes produced chiefly by fungi, bacteria and protozoan that catalyze cellulolytic materials. The aim of the study was chiefly to screen cellulolytic bacteria using different staining reagents. Soil samples were collected from different sites in and outside of Sokoto State University. Cellulase producing bacteria were screened individually by transferring pure cultures of bacteria isolates in CMC agar plates and incubated for 48 hours,. CMC agar plates were flooded with 1 % Congo red and allowed to stand for 15min. at room temperature. One molar NaCl was thoroughly used for counterstaining the plates, and the plates were observed for clear zones around colonies. The same procedure was repeated when CMC plates were flooded with Iodine, Safranin, Crystal violet and lactophenol cotton blue. The result revealed the colonial characterization such as shape, color, size, elevation, and gram reactions were determined for each of the isolates. A Total of 12 isolates were obtained from which 8 showed cellulolytic activities when screened using Congo red on carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), agar plates most of them were gram negative rods..The isolates labeled KS1, KS2, KS3, KS4, KS6, and KS7 produced clearance zones when stained with crystal violet, the isolate labeled KS2. KS3, KS4, and KS8 produced clearance zones when stained with lactophenol cotton blue, the isolates KS4, KS6, KS7 and KS8 produced clear zone when stained with iodine while Safranin produced no clear zones when used to stain the CMC agar plates The study revealed that other staining reagents could be used to screen cellulolytic bacteria and this reagents are more readily available.

In this work we have proposed a new mobile based health application on pervasive computing to cater the well being of human life and we designing a new bio-related mobile which is incorporated with an application called AIDS Awareness Application (A.A.A), we call it as “Sharon Mobile” with automatic application for suggesting the AIDS related frequently asked questions. This mobile has two different storage say server side and dB related storage in the mobile database itself. Gender wise searching option is implemented in this AIDS Awareness mobile. We are using heterogeneous data mining and mobile dB features for query searching with WHDM Tool.

In this paper we introduced the modified version of the differential transform method, which is called the projected differential transform method (PDTM) .This method can be easily applied to the initial value problems with less computational work. It can also be applied to solve linear and nonlinear partial differential equations. Firstly, we stated the definition of the projected transform method, and some related theorems. Then some illustrative examples are given, the numerical results of these examples compared with those obtained by the Differential transform method are found to be the same.

Simple, sensitive and rapid spectrophotometric and HPLC methods were developed for the determination of cefquinome sulphate in bulk and dosage forms. The methods were based on the measuring of the first and second derivative at 286nm and 300nm respectively. Regression analysis of Beer's plot showed good correlation (r=0.9997) in a concentration range of 4-12?g/ml. The recovery percentage was 100.1± 0.575% (n=3), which reflected no interference by the suspension excipients. The results obtained by the developed methods for the suspension dosage form were statistically compared with those of a developed HPLC method and evaluated at 95% confidence limits.

Production of Karanja oil methyl ester (biodiesel) from non-edible vegetable oils for diesel substitute is particularly important because of the decreasing trend of economical oil reserves, environmental problems caused due to fossil fuel use and the high price of petroleum products in the international market. Present work reports an optimized protocol for the production of methyl ester through alkaline catalyzed transesterification of Karanja Oil Three principal variables, molar ratio of methanol to oil, amount of catalyst, and reaction temperature affecting the yield of alkaline catalyzed production of methyl ester from Karanja oil were investigated. The methyl ester with best yield and quality was produced with karanja methyl ester at 1:9 mole ratio and 1 wt% of catalyst (NaOH) The rate of transesterification in a batch reactor increased with temperature upto 60 °C the yield was 91%. It was noted that greater or lower the concentration of NaOH or methanol than the optimal values, the reaction either fully occur or lead to soap formation. Physical and chemical properties of Karanja methyl ester are compared to that of petroleum diesel. Pongamia pinnata(karanja) oil to methyl ester conversion determined by GC-MS analysis. The produced methyl ester was found to exhibit fuel properties within the limits prescribed by the American Standards for Testing Material (ASTM) and European EN standards.

In this paper we have investigated the steady plane Couette flow of viscous incompressible fluid between two porous parallel plates through porous medium with magnetic field. We have studied the velocity, average velocity, shearing stress, skin frictions, the volumetric flow, drag coefficients and stream lines.

The current and future states of Agriculture are challenged with limited water resource vis-à-vis global changing climate; erratic rainfall and drought potential, as well as rising temperatures causing evaporation of freshwater resources. There are equally many similar primary causes in addition to the threats outlined as they are directly linked with declining agricultural growth. Farmlands adjoined to freshwater sources (flowing stream), or constructed small-scale reservoirs are used for the purpose of irrigation on an agricultural landscape. Sedimentation, inorganic chemicals and nutrient loading from crop/livestock fields enter run-off into these water sources posing impairment challenges to the water body and thus, water quality and reservoir capture/holding capacity reduces. Hence, the urgent need for a sustainable approach to manage water resource especially on Agricultural landscapes characterized by this subject matter. The establishment of Riparian buffer system proves to manage these exacerbated effects adequately. Riparian is significant in environmental and natural resource management as they enhance water quality and biodiversity through its vegetative products and services in land-use systems. In a perspective, riparian buffer can be said to have a dual purpose by contributing to carbon sequestration as well as an adaptive measure in water management; to reduce rate of freshwater evaporation on Agricultural landscapes. Additional products such as food and medicinal benefits could be generated. This paper presents an archetypal Riparian buffer design suitable for replication in Ghana and other countries with emphasis on Agro-ecological gains, climate change resilience and natural resource management and conservation.

Information processing model developed for management and psychological literature were from the basis of four general models, which provide a guiding framework for research. These models were term as rational, limited capacity, expert, and cybernetic models of information processing and behavior. Previous researcher argued that each model provides a different explanation of processing in several theoretical domains and has different methodological implications. However, the findings of the present study advanced and tested using structural equation modelling on the data collected from a sample of 118 Malaysian companies suggest that integrated information processing model is more appropriate in explaining extent of environmental scanning and information processing capacity and having a significant bearing on the quality of the decision made.

The main aim of science and technology is to better man’s life and his environment. Every learning situation in science based courses, subjects or areas requires a repertoire of essentials skills to achieve success. Success is built in every learning and learner but demands the right skills. Since no learner is perfect, such skills in learning make the learner more proficient as he continues to study and practice. One of such skills is the rightful and positive attitudes. Attitude can distort the perception of information and affect the degree of their retention. This paper examines what constitutes students’ positive learning attitudes, habits, behaviours and qualities that are predictors to positive attitudes which in turn beget positive results in science learning. Factors which beget negative learning attitudes and their implications to learning are also considered.

Background and objectives Length of the ring finger is more as compared to the index finger in males and they are almost equal in females. The ratio between 2D:4D is less in males (<1) but in females it is more (>1). This is directly related to exposure of more testosterone during intrauterine life of the fetus. The persons who are having 2D:4D ratio less than one are more aggressive and masculine characters. The present study is to find out the aggressive behavior of the persons and its relation to ratio of index finger length and ring finger length. (2D:4D). Methodology Fifty male and fifty female medical students in the age group ranging from 19 to 25 years studying in first year M.B.B.S. were selected. The students were selected randomly. The 2D and 4D length were taken and the ratio between them is calculated. The aggressive questionnaire was administered according to Aggression Questionnaire. Results Of the four types of aggression physical, anger and verbal was more seen in males (Scale T-score >55) as compared to hostility that was more in females (>55) but statistically not significant (p=0.422). Conclusion The co-relation between 2D:4D length ratio and aggressive behavior of the subjects was not significant statistically (P = 0.217).
