A study of placelessness in V.S. Naipaul’s life and works
This paper entitled A Study of Placelessness in V. S. Naipaul’s Life and Works focuses and analyzes with great sovereignty how the fire of getting a place fulgurates repeatedly in V. S. Naipaul’s own life and his works. This theme, directly or indirectly, has been smeared by him in some of his fiction and non-fiction works. The paper analyzes uselessness, rootlessness, placelessness, selflessness and unsuccessfulness of his characters. Place becomes burning issue in his own life also. In Naipaul’s works, his characters deliberately get staunch support by him as they personally feel a lack of a suitable place to affirm and confirm their presence in the mundane world. This paper is an attempt to give answer why is called Naipaul rootless despite of having his good roots not only in Trinidad but also in the other countries of the world and why his characters feel suffocation and seem taciturn. A study on subscribers preference towards mobile number portability, in erode city
The study brings out subscribers preference of Mobile Number Portability (MNP) in Coimbatore city. The main objective of this study is to know the subscriber inclination and major influencing factor for preferring a particular operator. The research design used in this study is descriptive research design. Data was collected from 200 subscribers, after screening the data 200 subscribers were taken into the account. Data was collected by survey method through structured questionnaire with closed ended questions. The primary data were collected through questionnaire, personal and telephonic contact with the subscribers. The secondary data were collected from the available literature sources. For distribution of questionnaire to the subscribers random sampling method was used and to collect the customer opinion survey was taken among the selected subscribers. The collected data includes personal details, preceding and existing operator, awareness of MNP, utilization of MNP and satisfaction level of MNP. Most of the educated subscribers are having the awareness about of MNP. But, in case of illiterate people no awareness is there about the MNP. Most of the subscriber made satisfied with new operator. In India, out of 851 million subscribers 13 million subscribers are makes MNP request (1.53 %) the same outcome is exposed in this study also i.e, most of the subscribers are not willing to switch their operator and they want to retain their existing operator.

A survey on the use of the past perfect tenses
This study examines a survey and analysis of the wrong use of the past perfect tenses by students in essay writing. The survey became necessary because of the in-depth deficiency students exhibited in essay writing in West African Senior Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and National Examination Council (NECO). The respondents of the study consisted of final year senior secondary student for the WASSCE and NECO classes and respondents from High Impact Capacity Teacher Building Workshop. They were required to write an essay or composition titled ‘My Best Teacher’ on page I of High Impact Capacity Teacher Building Workshop. It was discovered that there were some similarities in the type of errors, especially in the area of past perfect tenses in the second composition: ‘My First Day in the School (page 48-50). (Taken from Countdown for WASSCE/SSCE, NECO, JME English Language (Ogunsanwo et al 2005).

A Vertical Handoff Decision in Next Generation Wireless Networks with aid of ARM and AI Techniques
Fourth-Generation (4G) wireless networks will be heterogeneous, integrating different networks to provide continuous access for mobile users with multi mode access capability. The Fourth Generation communications systems is all about a global wireless communications system and defines a cost effective, simple, operable and personalized according to the users’ needs concept. The vertical handoff requirements are potential of the network, network cost, handoff latency, network conditions, power consumption and user’s preference. These must be considered during vertical handoff. In this research paper a new vertical handoff decision based on ARM & AI Techniques is designed. A refined, intelligent Associative Rule Mining (ARM) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) based technique is used to execute the vertical handoff intelligent mechanism in fourth generation wireless networks to produce an effective service which reduces the handoff delay and complexity.

Academic Course Scheduling Decision Support System
Web-based decision support systems are used to model data and make adequate decisions based upon it. They address the needs of managers in solving structured and semi-structured problems. They have provided assistance to human discrimination to put right people in right places. This research paper focuses on Academic Course Scheduling Decision Support System, which provides a reliable tool that can be used to improve decision making process in academic course scheduling. Due to the dearth of adequate classrooms in most academic institutions, and pressure on the available ones, it becomes more and more difficult for school management to battle with the problem. This paper gives a model for appropriate scheduling of courses to classrooms, as well as determining courses priorities. To facilitate good implementation of this work, the researchers painstakingly took out time to collect enough data from the case study (Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria) as well as materials and journals from various authors/sites. The application was developed using a scripting language, PHP, and MySQL database as backend to effectively achieve the aims of this project.

Ameliorating effect of emblica officinalis on testosterone and sperm toxicity of endosulfan induced mice
The ameliorating effect of Emblica officinalis was evaluated against changes in sperm and hormone of mice. The animals received aqueous preparation of Endosulfan (Pesticide) once daily for 35 days at the dose of 3 mg/kg body wt by oral gavage method and observed deleterious effect such as of reduction in the number of sperm count and motility. Declination in the level of Testosterone were observed which signify the testicular dysfunctions and finally causes infertility. To ameliorate the deleterious effect made by endosulfan, Emblica officinalis was administered to mice @ 100 mg/kg body wt & 150 mg/kg body wt The earlier study have demonstrated potent anti-microbial, antioxidant, adaptogenic, hepatoprotective, anti-tumor and anti-ulcerogenic activities in the fruits of Emblica officinalis. Emblica officinalis treatment mitigate the fluctuation in sperm count and sperm motility as well as elevated the level of testosterone which was depressed by pesticide treatment.

An enhanced data summarization for privacy preservation in incremental data mining
There has been a wide variety of research going on in the field of privacy preservation in data mining. Most of the methods are implemented for static data. But the world is filled with dynamic data which grows rapidly than what we expect. No technique is better than the other ones with respect to all criteria. This paper focus on a methodology that is well suited for incremental data that preserves its privacy while also performing an efficient mining .the method does not require the entire data to be processed again for the insertion of new data. The method uses data summarization technique which is used for both incremental data and providing privacy for such data. We develop the algorithm for making the environment flexible and cost effective.

An environmentally benign, solvent free synthesis and antibacterial activity of novel Schiff bases derived from 4,5-diazafluoren-9-one
Ten new heterocyclic moiety containing Schiff bases have been synthesized by the condensation of 4,5-diazafluoren-9-one with substituted amines by using SnCl2 as a catalyst under solvent free condition. The Schiff bases were obtained in good yields and easy to isolate. Some synthesized products were characterized by IR, NMR and MASS and also tested for antibacterial activities by disc diffusion method.

An Improvement to TF*PDF: Salient Long Running Event Detection from News Documents based on various features
Automated extraction of popular news from the freely accessible news corpora is becoming important in today’s internet world. Because of the availability of large volumes of news wire sources, it is hectic for the human beings to search and decide whether it is popular or not. This necessitates a tool which should extract hot news in a period of time. Term weighting is a useful technique which extracts salient features from the text documents. Though, there exist different tools based on different term weighting algorithms, these are inaccurate in the extraction of hot news. In this paper, a new feature extraction algorithm for long running events based on frequency, position, scattering and topicality is proposed. Experimentation has been done on different retrospective news wire sources. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is suitable for extracting hot news.
