The ability to access, evaluate and use information is a prerequisite for lifelong learning, and a basic requirement for the information society.Information literacy (IL) program in academic libraries involves the process of imparting library users with the information skills that can help them identify their information needs, locate, retrieve, evaluate and effectively use that information for problem solving. This study investigatedthe effects information literacy programs in academic libraries.The specific objectives of the study were to: find out the levels of information literacy skills among students; identify the role of libraries in the integration of information literacy programs; establish the methods used in the provision of an information literacy programs; and to find out the students’ perceptions on information literacy programs. The study adopted the seven ways orfaces of information literacy model by Bruce (1997). This study employed the descriptive and explanatory research designs. The study employed both non probability and probability sampling techniques. The study sample was stratified according to the level of education of the respondents and convenience sampling was used in administering the questionnaires. The study sample comprised 335 users and 2 librarians who were selected using purposive sampling.Data was analyzed descriptively using SPSS 23 and presented in form of tables and figures. The findings of the study showed that the majority of the respondents understood the meaning of information literacy, they used the OPAC system and E-resources to locate, access, retrieve and effectively use the information acquired. The methods employed in the teaching information literacy skills included carrying out annual orientation programs for new students, organizing library workshops and demonstrations. However, it is evident that majority of library users lacked information searching and retrieval skills and this is due to the fact that they did not undergo a well-organized information literacy program, and that university students rely heavily on the internet for their academic work or research. The study concluded that although there have been efforts to ensure information literacy among university students, there is need to build on these efforts through collaborative efforts between librarians and faculty members particularly through joint curriculum design and implementation. There are some forms of information literacy training in the institution, however the training offered is not adequate to promote lifelong learning due to lack of standardized information literacy programs and lack of information literacy policies. The findings of the study will be significant to the policy makers by helping them to make sound policies that will enhance the development of information literacy skills among university students. Various methods should be used for teaching and assessing the information literacy skills of the students, which includes: one-on-one instruction, interactive classes, online tutorials, as well as building assignments around research situations.Lecturers should also be encouraged to use e-library resources and computers as well as the Internet and online searching skills as part of the students’ assignments.

ABSTRACT: Uterine arterio venous malformation(AVM) is uncommon cause of menorrhagia. We report a rare case of arteriovenous malformation. A case of uterine haemorrhage in a 20 years old lady who delivered 2 months back came with secondary PPH, where conventional treatment failed. A refractory case of PPH ,where GnRH agonist was given. In general technologies in the field of education have a significant history. The focus of this study was to determine the level of computer use among the teaching staff at Princess Nora University in KSA. A total of 80 teaching staffs were participated in this study. Data was collected from academicians through a survey consisting of demographics variables, and level of computer use. Questionnaire results were analyzed quantitatively. Findings of the study showed that teaching staff at Princess Nora University generally had a high level of computer use. However, a in depth research is required, in order to investigate the factors affecting the use of computer technology among the teaching staff. As this study is limited to a particular setting and particular participants, further study is needed.

Since the inception industrial revolution, a continuous attempt is being made to recover and minimize the waste heat. With the time various waste heat recovery system is developed. In the present research paper an exhaustive review on heat pipe is done. Various aspects and application is described and the view of authors is presented here. Further, the wide application of heat pipe to recover waste heat from the exhaust of IC engine id discussed and salient conclusion is drawn which indicates that, a wide scope is available for further research on heat pipe and especially in the relation of IC engine exhaust heat recovery system.

Motivation seems to be one of the most important tools of managing employee performance. Organizations design motivation systems (strategy) to encourage employees to perform in the most effective way but also to attract potential candidates. The case study was chosen to represent other strategies in place that will improve staff performance through motivation within the organization in which staffs were dissatisfied as a result of ineffective use of non financial motivation. The non monetary rewards available at MMM includes promotion, appreciation certificates, housing facilities, training scholarship, good working conditions, gift offering and recognition, responsibility and training. On the other hand, employees consider non-monetary incentives among the most important factors that increase their desire to exert more effort in their jobs. The general objective of this proposal was to explore the effect of motivation strategy over staff performance in MMM, and also to realize this, the following objectives were looked in details, to allow employees to perform well at MMM include financial motivation, non-financial and the management style of MMM that had motivate staff, researcher during the study use different theories and models that relate with the topic under study which was drive theory and incentive theory and Abraham Maslow hierarchy of needs model the researcher use descriptive survey design and he will target 300 Employees of MMM Ltd. The sampling techniques that researcher used was stratified sampling and the sample size was 156 employees of MMM Ltd which was out of 300 employees as the targeted population of the study, data collection tools were questionnaires. Both qualitative and quantitative techniques were used to analyze the data collected and finally data was presented through the use of bar graphs and pie charts where possible. Findings were there was a clear financial compensation strategy as it indicates the organization has clear compensation policy. The respondents believed that management of MMM Ltd was responsible for both the big structures that serve as the foundation of confidence, and the human touches that shape a positive emotional climate to inspire and motivate and some of the recommendations that researcher has pointed for MMM Ltd was Management and departmental heads should deliver confidence to the employees by exposing high standards of training programs and motivation strategies in the organization. Since mangers are responsible for bridging the gap between staff motivation strategy and the final decisions on how to train on the best of their knowledge and the reality of implementing the changes within the organization, they should always involve employees in decision making.

Sustaining Competitive Advantage is an issue of most concern to companies in the service industry in order to keep up with the increasingly competitive environment, as well as to attract new customers and retain the existing ones. Strategies with proper resources and drivers to sustain the advantages is what companies are trying to work on. Service quality strategy is one of these drivers and is a considerable aspect for customers and their perceptions about different bus companies in this case. With increasing competition for customers on the Nairobi-Mombasa route in Kenya, bus companies are slowly shifting from profit-orientation to service-orientation in a bid to woo customers. Service quality is strategic key to ensure survival in this cut-throat competition. The general objective of this research study was to establish the role of service quality strategy in sustaining competitive advantage in the public transport business, with particular analysis of Modern Coast Express. The specific objectives of this project were to find out how customer relationship strategies, loyalty scheme strategies and strategic brand management influenced sustainable competitive advantage in the bus company. From this, research questions were derived on how the three variables influence sustainable competitive advantage. The study employed a survey research design in data collection which was descriptive in nature. Quantitative data collection method was adopted whereby data was gathered using questionnaires administered to the respondents. Both qualitative and quantitative methods of data analysis were used to analyze the research variables. In general, results revealed that customer relationship strategies, loyalty scheme strategies and strategic brand management have significant and positive effects on sustainable competitive advantage at Modern Coast Express. This research recommends that to gain and sustain competitive advantage in public transport business in Kenya, managers should take into consideration and develop customer relationship strategies, loyalty scheme strategies and strategic brand management.

The study aims at establishing and analyzing the factors influencing growth of microenterprises in Mombasa. The data to be utilized in this research will be directly obtained from entrepreneurs in various business ventures in the economy handling both farm and non-farm activities and other services such as transport. The study will establish how level of education, technology, government legislations and credit accessibility affects the growth of micro enterprises. Most micro enterprises are unable to access credit facilities due to lack of adequate assets to offer as security which serves as a commitment to firms for repayment. It also provides assurance to lenders that the loan will be repaid and if the firm fails, the assets will be sold to recover the loan. Education level of an entrepreneur will also be identified as another influential factor in the growth of micro enterprises. Educated entrepreneurs are identified as less constrained in accessing loan facilities because of acquired knowledge and skills in successful management and effective business proposal writing. The study will also establish how the technology of an enterprise affect its growth. Firms with high level of technologya long time of existence, have a well established financial base hence are regarded as creditworthy by many formal and informal financial institutions. To achieve the objectives of the study, descriptive research design will be used. The study will be carried out in Mombasa County, targeting 1200 microenterprises. A proportionate sample of 120 will be selected using stratified random sampling technique. Questionnaires and interviews will be used for primary data collection. Data collected will be analyzed using tables, pie charts and graphs with the help of SPSS computer package. Conclusions and recommendations will be made and drawn from the findings.

In the judiciary, ICT can be adopted to enhance efficiency, access, timeliness, transparency and accountability, and helping the judiciaries to provide adequate services (Sturges, 2008; Yen, 2005). The use of information and communication technology (ICT) is considered one of the key strategic elements to significantly improve the administration of justice in a country since the benefits are enjoyed directly by the citizens. The rapid development of technology opens up new opportunities that were unthinkable only a few years ago (Tseng et al 2008). Specific objectives of the study were: To establish the influence of Skills development on implementation of ICT in the Kenyan judiciary, to determine the influence of strategic leadership on implementation of ICT in the Kenyan judiciary, to establish the extent of which organizational technological preparedness affects ICT adoption in Kenyan judiciary. This study used descriptive design. The population included a sample size of 44 members of staff in Mariakani Law Courts. Judicial officers and staff in the court were chosen as the target population since they interact with majority of the technologies and are aware of all the ICT needs in the court system. Data was collected using structured questionnaires, and findings analyzed using SPSS software. The findings of the study showed that there is a positive relationship between ICT skills development, strategic leadership and organization technological preparedness with implementation of ICT at the Judiciary in Kenya

The study was guided by the following specific objectives: the effects of customer focus, top management commitment, people management and process management on the performance of construction projects. The descriptive research design was used in the study. The study was carried out in Kiambu County. Questionnaires were used as the tools of data collection. Questionnaires were used to collect data from the employees of the construction firms. Quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive statistics which entailed use of frequencies and percentages. Inferential statistics where the researcher employed Chi-square and The Spearman Rank Order tests were used. The study found out that; most of the respondents were of the view that their organizations placed a major emphasis on communication and training processes with a view of enhancing customer focus. The top management was fairly evaluated on quality performance. The capacity of their project teams in terms of periodic training needs assessment to ensure sustainable construction projects performance. The organizations had put in place fair mechanisms to ensure that the team members fully comprehended the business processes within the organizations. The study recommended that: the construction companies should seek to place greater emphasis on customer focus. This is by way of always aligning their quality management practices and ethos on the clients’ needs with a view of seeking to ensure maximum satisfaction and repeat buying. The top management in the construction industry should seek to always lead by example and from the front in seeking to enforce quality standards.

The study was based on the premise that the business environment is influenced by different factors that affect corporate governance on the performance of the organization. The research is carried out in Mombasa County; the main objective is to analyze the effects of corporate governance on the performance of an organization. The site of the study is at Wartsila eastern Africa limited which is located outside the Town center of Mombasa. The study used a descriptive, explanatory, comparative, and associational and cross-sectional research designs data. A sample of 75 respondents was to provide the data, the proportion of the respondents was, 5 from top level executive, 20 from middle level managers and 50 from low level employees. Findings on the relationship between Corporate Governance variables and board roles indicated significant positive relationship.
