Human health risk assessment on intake of fish contaminated with organochlorine contaminants has been investigated in seven fish species from Lake Bosomtwi and Weija Lake in Ghana. The species studied were Tilapia busumana, Hemiscrimis faciatus, Sarotherodon galileu from Lake Bosomtwi and Tilapia zilli, Tilapia nile, Tilapia galilaea and Clarius gariepinus from Weija Lake. Risk assessment was carried out by estimating daily exposure as well as carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic implications on consumption of the studied fishes. Estimated daily exposures to OCs on dietary intake of fish were in the range of 0.002 µg/kg to 0.176 µg/kg and 0.001 µg/kg to 0.0892 µg/kg for children and adults respectively. Consumption of Clarias gariepinus indicated the highest health risk to organochlorine exposure. Children were exposed to more OCs than adults on consumption of the same quantity of contaminated fish. Estimated daily exposures however, fell below USEPA reference doses. Cancer hazard analysis showed that more than one in a million of the consuming population could get cancer on eating Clarias gariepinus due to hexachlorocyclohexanes (HCHs) contamination. However, consumption of the investigated fish from Lake Bosomtwi presents no risk of cancer. Organochlorines were extracted from samples by sonicating on an ultrasonic bath with hexane/acetone solvent system and organochlorine contaminants were determined using capillary gas chromatograph equipped with electron capture detector.

Being a Christian and clinical psychologist our worldview must be determined by Scripture because all truth is Gods truth. Our understanding of mental illness and disorder should also be based upon a biblical worldview. Our therapeutic practice will utilize Scripture to heal our clients for the glory of God. Psychology, then, in the Christian framework, is not an independent activity that operates apart from God; it is dependent upon Gods mercy to illuminate human understanding on therapeutic intervention and research. Human spirituality is a source of great strength. Christians recognize that psychological observations illuminate our understanding of human cognition, emotionality and experience. The Bible gives some very specific instructions on how one might become more emotionally and spiritually healthy, psychology gives us insight into the emotional and mental dynamic of our experience and provides us with tools to enact the Bible?s instructions. This article will therefore focus on Deciphering the Discipline of Clinical Psychology through the Eyes of Faith.

This paper aims to analyse the autobiographical elements in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird which brings out the similarities in the life of the novelist Harper Lee and that of the protagonist, Scout. They both tend to share some coincidental situations in their lives wherein they seek answers to the questions which were asked by themselves and by others (public). Even though they were discriminated by their gender, they never listened to the public.

Mathematics teachers are expected to integrate technology in their teaching to enhance pedagogical practice and student achievement. However, importance has not been placed on preparing teachers to use ICTs in their instruction. This paper reports on a study conducted to explore the feasibility of ICT use in mathematics teaching at the secondary school level. Based on an expanded variation of the Technology Acceptance Model, a survey of student teachers were collected at local universities in Kenya. It explores the factors affecting the integration of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in instruction. A questionnaire was administered to 110 student-teachers of mathematics seeking to get their attitudes to ICT in learning and teaching and their initial experiences of the application of ICT in mathematics instruction. In-depth interviews with the student-teachers, as well as university lecturers and teachers, revealed a range of issues that reflected how student-teachers perceive integration of ICT’s in mathematics instruction. Recommendations are offered for the improvement of the ICT experiences for student-teachers during training and improved ICT infrastructure in schools. The overriding conclusion is that schools must be supported and resourced properly, and pre- service teachers must have effective ICT training.

Teachers’ support is key in effective implementation of formative assessment strategies towards improvement of learners’ achievement in Mathematics instruction. However, there is lack of attention it has previously received hence the need for teacher support on effective implementation of the Five key Formative Assessment Strategies(FAS) in Mathematics instruction including: Clarifying and sharing learning intentions and criteria for success, Engineering effective classroom discussions, questions and learning tasks, Feedback that moves learners forward, Self-assessment and Peer assessment towards improved learning. The purpose of this study was to investigate Teachers’ support on effective implementation of the five key Formative Assessment Strategies in Mathematics instruction in secondary schools. The study was carried out in secondary schools in Nandi County, Kenya. Proportionate, stratified and simple random sampling was used to select 12 schools, 33 mathematics teachers and 12 head teachers. Quasi-experimental mixed method intervention design was employed. Data was collected using teachers’ questionnaires, head-teachers interviews and teachers’ focus group interviews. Data was analyzed by use of descriptive and thematic analyses. The findings revealed that there was inadequate support was due to: lack of training offered to teachers on FAS, lack of adequate resources and materials, big class sizes which did not favor the good use of FAS, lack of time to plan for FAS, FAS not included in curriculum and inadequate head teacher support.The study recommends that Teacher support is needed in terms of time, curriculum modifications, resources/materials, class sizes and periods. Intensive training of head teachers and all stakeholders should also be done on the support needed for successful implementation of FAS.Curriculum reviewers must involve stakeholders (Mathematics teachers) so that the reviewed curriculum supports effective implementation of FAS in terms of class sizes, time, learning materials and class periods.

The detection rate of pancreatic cystic lesions has increased since the current use of high resolution imaging. CT-scan, MRI and echo-endoscopy are diagnostic modalities. The pseudocyst is the most common lesion. It is benign and can be managed by endoscopic treatment. Pancreatic cancer accounts for 2% of all tumors, yet it is the fifth leading cause of cancer death. The surgical treatment of these lesions should be discussed within a multidisciplinary team. The interest of this observation lies in the rarity of the published case, both in terms of the location of the tumor and the clinical and radiological presentation leading to a benign tumor of the pancreas which sometimes poses diagnostic difficulties and justifies a discussion multidisciplinary.

The main aim of this project is to design an embedded system for implementing an efficient alcohol and face detection system that will be useful to avoid accidents. Drunk driving face detection with car ignition locking and drowsy driving alert by using raspberrypi aims to change that with automated, transparent , noninvasive alcohol safety check in vehicles. Raspberry pi with dc motor to demonstrate as vehicle engine. If driver is drunk, the processor instantly stops the system ignition by stopping the motor. If alcohol sensor is not giving high alcohol intensity signals, the system lets engine run normally.in additional of this project, automatic turning indication by using gps location tracking and predefined path.

This paper presents the impact of Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) on transient stability improvement in the Nigeria 330KV transmission network. UPFC is a Flexible AC Transmission System controller (FACTS) that can regulate the Power flow through the Line by controlling its Series and shunt reactance. In shunt connection it has Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) and in the series, Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC) is employed and can independently control the Line Power Flow in order to improve transient stability of the system. This network which consist of 17 generating stations, 41 buses and 40 transmission lines was modeled and simulated using PSAT and Matlab Version 7.5. Fault was initiated with and without UPFC and result showed that Transient Stability of the system is improved.
