In this paper, we explain a new type of geometry based on a different way of measuring distance between points, as we explained on different planes like Minkowski and Galilean. Now, we'll give a little background on this unfamiliar geometry. The purpose of this paper is to introduce high school students to taxicab geometry, one type of non-Euclidean geometry in which a new metric to measure distance replaces the usual metric of Euclidean geometry.

According to United Nations office on drugs and crime UNODC (2011), alcohol and drug abuse posses a great threat to the social economic fabric of nations worldwide. In spite of the governments’ effort in the fight against drug and substance abuse in Kenya, the problem remains untamed. The study assessed the effectiveness of the school community in curbing drug and substance abuse (DSA) among secondary school students. Literature relating to various aspects of school community and curbing DSA in schools was reviewed. The study employed descriptive survey design. The study sample consisted of 35 head teachers and 407 students. Questionnaires were used to collect Data from head teachers and students. Content validity and reliability of the research instruments was ascertained. Descriptive statistics were used to analyse data. The findings of the study show that students obtain drugs from the school community. Lack of cooperation from parents and guardians was frustrating DSA intervention efforts in schools. The study concluded that the use of school community was not effective in curbing DSA in schools. The study recommended an integrated approach where different strategies or combination of strategies are used purposively for different DSA cases. Head teachers should collaborate with law enforcers, government agencies; NACADA, NGOs and FBOs to curb the supply and demand of drugs and substances. The Ministry of Education could review its policy on punishment and expulsion as regards to curbing alcohol and drug abuse among students. CNC Wire cut electrical discharge machining (WEDM) has become an important non-traditional machining process which is used to manufacture intricate shapes with great accuracy and good surface roughness. Due to large number of process parameters and response characteristics, lots of researchers have attempted to model and optimize the process. This paper reviews the research trends in relation between different process parameters and different performance measures including Surface roughness (Ra),material removal rate (MRR), Dimensional deviation (DD), kerf width (KW) and wire wear ratio (WWR). In addition, this paper highlights different optimization methods and discusses their role in CNC WEDM process.

Bipolar Disorder is a psychiatric disorder in which the core feature is pathological disturbance in mood rearranging from extreme mania to severe depression. Research analysis shows there is no specific genes are analyze which is directly associated with Bipolar Disorder. Diverse data mining technique is used to find out genes responsible for BD. It is found that genes present in orbit frontal cortex are differentially expressed in disease and control subjects. Gene Expression analyses of thousands of genes are studied from the orbit frontal cortex region of brain. Microarray technology is used to study approximately 22,283 mRNA transcripts from Orbit frontal cortex in brain region. Statistical t-tests are applied and 1,172 genes have obtained as significant genes. Correlation based feature selection is used to reduce the large dataset into small dataset.

Cross-cultural Differences in Managing Businesses: Applying Hofstede Cultural Analysis in Germany, Canada, South Korea and Morocco Abstract Recently, expansion to new markets is a common thing for international business. Nevertheless, any decision to expand should be preceded by a thorough analysis of all possible obstacles. Culture is among the most significant factors influencing the business model. Therefore, it is of critical importance to demonstrate cross-cultural competence while making any decision to establish business in a foreign country. The purpose of this study is aimed at providing support for the decision-making process related to expanding business to other countries. This study utilizes Hofstede cultural analysis applied to four countries including Germany, Canada, South Korea and Morocco. Basing on the findings it is possible to better understand the peculiarities of each country in terms of their cultural differences including the following factors: power distance, individualism, masculinity/femininity, uncertainty avoidance, long term orientation and indulgence. The results of analysis are gathered in a table offering brief information on each reviewed country. Moreover, this paper reviews business opportunities and potential conflicts in the above-mentioned countries. The FT-Raman and FTIR spectra for 3-amino-4-methyl benzoic acid (AMBA) have been recorded in the region 4000–100 cm?1 and compared with the harmonic vibrational frequencies calculated by DFT method using B3PW91/6-31+G(d,p) and B3PW91/6-311++G(2d,2p) basis set with appropriate scale factors. IR intensities and Raman activities are also calculated by DFT methods. Optimized geometries of the molecule have been interpreted and compared with the reported experimental values for benzoic acid and some substituted benzoic acids. Furthermore, the molecular orbital calculations such as natural bond orbitals (NBO), HOMO-LUMO energy gap and Mapped molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) surfaces were also performed with the same level of DFT. The detailed interpretation of the vibrational spectra has been carried out with the aid of potential energy distribution (PED) results obtained from MOLVIB program.

Dufour effect on unsteady free convection MHD flow past a moving vertical plate through porous medium with variable temperature and constant mass diffusion is studied here. The Laplace transform technique has been used to find the solutions for the velocity, temperature and concentration. The results obtained are discussed with the help of graphs drawn for different parameters like thermal Grashof number, mass Grashof number, Prandtl number, permeability parameter, the Hartmann number, Schmidt number, Dufour number, time and inclination of magnetic field. The numerical values of Skin-friction have been tabulated.

Signal timing is the technique which traffic engineers use to determine who has the right-of-way at an intersection. Signal timing involves deciding how much green time the traffic lights shall provide at an intersection approach, how long the pedestrian walk signal should be, and many numerous other factors. Traffic volume studies are conducted to determine the number, movements, and classifications of roadway vehicles at a given location. The collected data is converted into PCU units. These data can help identify critical flow time periods, determine the influence of large vehicles or pedestrians on vehicular traffic flow, or document traffic volume trends. The length of the sampling period depends on the type of count being taken and the intended use of the data recorded. For example, an intersection count may be conducted during the peak flow period. If so, manual count with 15-minute intervals could be used to obtain the traffic volume data. Webster’s method is a rational approach for signal design. The design is simple and is totally based on formulae’s laid down by Webster. In this method, the total cycle of the signal is determined which forms a total least delay occurring at signal.

The need for mobile communications computing and net-working has turn out to be important more than ever. With the increasing demand for low cost and high integration of wireless transceiver building blocks, the low power is a great concern for Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit (RFIC) designers. Exhaustive exertion has been made to advance RF integrated circuits and systems in the GHz range using CMOS process in low cost. Frequency Synthe-sizer that includes Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) is a signifi-cant block of the transceiver this generates carrier for the down-conversion/up-conversion operations. Voltage-Controlled Oscillator (VCO) and High Frequency Divider (HFD) decides the channel selection of frequency synthesiz-er and power consumption. This work presents the design of 2.4/5.4 GHz CMOS Frequency Synthesizer for 2.3/3.5 MHz resolution with 32/33 divider circuit. The Frequency Syn-thesizer circuits are designed in 180nm CMOS process technology using Virtuoso of Cadence tools.

Disaster preparedness is one of the phases within the disaster management cycle which covers implementation or operation, early warning systems and capacity building so that the population can react appropriately when an early warning is issued. Disasters have inflicted a heavy cost on human, material and physical resources. A comprehensive review of the literature has revealed that the development of disaster management strategies, such as preparedness, must be undertaken before the event strikes. The specific objective was to evaluate fire disaster risk plans for preparedness in Nairobi County. The research employed a descriptive research design to carry out the study in order to establish the relationships between the variables of interest. Exploratory and Evaluative research designs were used. Both quantitative and qualitative research designs were used to conduct the research. Households were sampled purposively such that only those from the informal settlement were interviewed and the research involved face to face interviews with 110 households by the use of questionnaires. Findings revealed that most respondents (89.6%) indicated that fire disaster risk plan for preparedness and awareness campaigns were important. Most respondents agreed with awareness initiatives both at household and institutional level except for allowing children to play near fire and lighting of cigarettes in fuel flammable areas. Fire escape plans were the most adopted fire awareness initiative as a fire disaster risk reduction measure.
