This paper presents a study which examines the foundation of the present day scientometric as laid down by Derek de Solla Price in his award winning work: A general theory of bibliometric and other cumulative advantage processes, published in Journal of the American Society for Information Science. In the study, the importance of scientometric in research evaluation is identified, and a new concept of scientometrick is introduced. The error made and concealed in the trivial modification of the effect of contagion single-edged success introduced by Derek de Solla Price is exhumed with elucidatory discussion. The features of the Price’s model do not seem to correlate well when compared with the real time situations in academic publishing process. Except that Derek de Solla Price stated so, it is doubtful that the Price’s model is relevant and useful in real time bibliometric and academic publishing processes.

This paper focuses on the structure of corporate leadership and how it can help achieve Early Childhood Education (ECE) goals in protecting the rights of children. It establishes that corporate leadership has not fully been exercised and implemented in Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres, and this is due to the administrator’s inability to steer stable and sustainable centres for protection of rights of children and unprofessional management. The study employed descriptive surveys, and stratified sampling was used to obtain a sample of 52ECD centres in Baringo County, Kenya and the target population involved the staff in ECD centres. This paper establishes that corporate leadership is vital towards accomplishment of protecting rights of children and that curriculum supervision plays a major role in quality education and protecting children rights. Therefore it recommends a full review of implementation of corporate leadership in ECD centres and training of staff to achieve this course

The aim of this study is to detect Total Electron Content (TEC) anomalies before (Mw=7.0) Haiti earthquake on 12 Jan 2010. Three earthquake-associated TEC anomalies appear at 15:00, 20:00 and 22:00 on 11 Jan 2010 (UTC), 1 day before this earthquake. The analysis results are examined using a mathematical tool called Principal Component Analysis (PCA). After more detailed analysis using PCA, each of three TEC anomalies lasts about 30 minutes.

The concept of the low heat rejection (LHR) is to suppress the heat rejection to the coolant and recovering this heat energy into useful work. The main objective of this work is to increase the performance of the engine and improve the fuel economy by coating piston face using metal matrix composite materials (MMCM). The neem kernel oil is selected as fuel, which has high viscosity, low volatility and low cetane number. In the present study, neem kernel oil (NKO) is converted into neem kernel oil methyl esters (NKOME) by transesterification process. The tests are conducted with NKO, NKOME and diesel on the coated and uncoated engines for different loads at rated speed. The combustion, emission and performance characteristics are determined and compared.

Majority of tumours occurring in minor salivary gland are malignant. Pleomorphic adenoma is a benign tumour rare in minor salivary gland of palate. We report a rare case of a minor salivary gland pleomorphic adenoma of the palate in 60 year old female patient who presented with painless slow progressive swelling of palate over the last 7 years. The mass was extending to nasopharynx and oropharynx causing mechanical obstruction of airway and dysphagia. CT scan depicted soft tissue density mass lesion measuring 5 × 4.5cm in the left half of soft palate. Fine needle aspiration cytology was suggestive of pleomorphic adenoma. Complete surgical excision of mass was done. Histopathological examination confirmed diagnosis of pleomorphic adenoma of minor salivary gland. Pleomorphic adenoma must be considered in the differential diagnosis of palatal mass. Timely intervention of pleomorphic adenoma prevents malignant changes.Complete surgical excision is the treatment of choice.Recurrence is rare after complete surgical excision with wide margin. Prognosis is excellent after complete surgical excision.

Pressure monitoring and control using digital gauge as a tool, is one of the economical sources of obtaining valuable information about periodic production tests. It is actually a test to determine relative quantities of oil, gas and water produced under normal producing conditions. They facilitate well and reserves operations and also comply with legal and regulatory requirements. Every individual, in oil and gas well pressure and temperature monitoring and controlling team, require the knowledge of pressure and temperature(PT) behaviours in the annulus and tubing and at the wellhead, periodically, either during or after an operation. One of the most reliable ways through which these parameters (PT) can be monitored and controlled is through the use of one of the digital gauge known as “Keller (LoggerDCX4.11) Gauge”, which is capable of recording and storing PT data. Every operation carried out with this gauge is meant to achieve a specific goal, either to know the pressure build-up or the pressure drawdown, during and after annulus and tubing pressure bleed-off. When this purpose is achieved, effective well development and production is assured.PT, well development and production are closely related in the sense that, they are mutually dependent. For well development and production to succeed, pressure data, among other parameters must be known. This tool is one of the most advantageous gauges for PT well testing data. Its unique features make it easier to monitor and control oil and gas wells’ PT during development, production and maintenance.

The present study focused on the numerical solution of boundary layer flow of a radiating dusty fluid over a stretching porous surface. The governing boundary layer equations of the problem are formulated and transformed into ordinary differential equation by using similarity transformation. The resulting equations are then solved numerically using Runge Kutta fourth order scheme along with shooting technique. It has been observed that the temperature of the particle phase increases with the increase of radiation parameter but the radiation parameter has no significant effect on fluid phase temperature.

In recent days, the Fiber Reinforced Composites have replaced many of the engineering components and the composite material manufacturing area is experiencing substantial growth. FRC’s also have replaced materials used in the civil construction area, sporting goods, automobile and aircraft parts, and boat and ship hulls. The composites in general, offer many advantages over homogenous materials like high strength to weight ratio, less weight, flexibility in design, structural and dimensional stability, corrosion and wear resistance along with low tooling cost. Because of the anisotropy in nature, machining composite materials is a complex process especially operations involved in in drilling and milling. Therefore, dry drilling operation on composite materials affects the performance of the drill tool. Hence the present investigation focusses on the study of effect of the machining parameters such as spindle speed (1200, 1500 and 1800 rpm), feed rate (0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 mm/rev), drill diameter (6, 8 and 10mm) on HSS drill tool wear in the drilling of Glass Fiber Reinforced Polyester (GFRP) composites. The present work also aims to optimize the machining parameters in drilling to get minimum flank tool wear. The experiment is designed using full factorial design of experiments. Measure of land width was used to assess the Flank wear of HSS drill. The process parameters are optimized to reduce the tool wear using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). Mathematical model was generated by through regression analysis by developing a Regression equation for flank wear of HSS drill.

This study is an attempt to investigate empirical justification for selection and number of components used in evaluation criteria based on which scoring scales are developed and score is assigned; a need which is felt by many scholars. Following the literature eight evaluation criteria was selected and a scoring scale was developed. 124 scripts (totally 248) for each task of letter writing and argumentation were scored analytically with the selected eight components. Then the scores were tested through a number of statistical procedures (Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analysis) to empirically examine the underlying components of writing against which quality of writing was assessed. The results indicate that it is possible to have a standard to empirically justify the selection and number of components. However, this finding is not conclusive and there are still some uncertainties which warrant further studies.

Naturalness as a main inseparable feature of literary texts may be exposed to some mistranslations or misunderstandings from the part of the translators during the act of translation. A major issue is probably the level of the difficulty of the source text. There is a sever lack of research on the impact of text difficulty on translation naturalness at the micro level with regard to the formal and dynamic equivalents. Accordingly, the current study as an initial attempt in Iran aimed at examining the common elements of word and sentence pertinent to text difficulty and translation naturalness. To this end, the researcher aimed at finding out the relationship between formal and dynamic equivalents for simple and difficult texts. A pool of 86 students participated in the study to serve as the source of data. Having assessed the students’ performances on the tests based on Nida’s criteria, the researcher found a moderate correlation for formal and dynamic equivalents with regard to the simple texts and a strong correlation for formal and dynamic equivalents with regard to the difficult texts. Finally, some implications for translator teachers and syllabus designers were recommended.
