Cryptococcus is an encapsulated yeast, ubiquitous in nature. The concept of using differential media for isolating specific fungal pathogens is not new. The present study reveals that all plant based media are found to be supporting the confluent growth of Cryptococcus neoformans, Lowsonia inermis (Henna) leaf based media, Brassica campestris (Mustard) seed based media and Rhus cotinus (Smoke tree) leaf based media exhibits appreciable brown color effect (BCE) which makes them a good option as selective media for Cryptococcus neoformans. Not only plant based agar media, the plant based broths also supported confluent growth of this organism. This is perhaps the first report. Thus, these plant based media are selective, simple to prepare and economical to use and offers a novel alternative for currently available synthetic media.

Ten new heterocyclic moiety containing Schiff bases have been synthesized by the condensation of 4,5-diazafluoren-9-one with substituted amines by using SnCl₂ as a catalyst under solvent free condition. The Schiff bases were obtained in good yields and easy to isolate. Some synthesized products were characterized by IR, NMR and MASS and also tested for antibacterial activities by disc diffusion method.

The present work deals with the results of experimental investigations on steel fiber reinforced self compacting concrete. Effects of these fibers on various strengths of concrete were studied with varied fiber content from 0.5 to 3% at a specific interval with weight of cement. Strengths considered for investigation were compressive strength, flexural strength, split tensile and bond strength and tests on fresh concrete were also conducted. Ductility of concrete is found to increase in the fiber reinforced self compacting concrete as observed from the load deflection study. The Poisson’s ratio is found to vary within the specified limits with static modulus of concrete relation between flexural shear strength and all other strengths are developed. A comparison result of steel fiber reinforced self compacting concrete and that of normal self compacting concrete shows the significant improvement in the results of various strengths.

Gold nanoparticles were prepared by reduction of Chloroauric acid (HAuCl4) using enzymes of Glycyrrhiza Glabra root extract as a reducing agent and also used as stabilizer. UV–visible spectroscopy was used for quantification of Gold nanoparticle synthesis. The synthesized gold nanoparticles were characterized with Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR).The results of TEM, XRD, and UV–vis absorption spectra show that the Gold nanoparticles have a narrow size distribution.

Comparative study of O-butylation of phenols under Liquid-Liquid biphasic versus solid-liquid-liquid and Liquid-Liquid-Liquid triphasic phase transfer catalysis has been carried out. 1-Butyl bromide was used as an alkylating agent. Tetrabutyl ammonium hydrogen sulphate was used as Phase transfer catalyst. The rates of reaction were enhanced under the triphasic PTC as compared to the Liquid-Liquid PTC.

P_2p-factorization of a complete bipartite graph for an integer was studied by Wang [1]. Further, Beiliang [2] extended the work of Wang [1], and studied the -factorization of complete bipartite multigraphs. For even value of in -factorization, the spectrum problem is completely solved [1, 2, 3]. However for odd value of i.e. and , the path factorization have been studied by a number of researchers [4, 5, 6, 7]. Again, factorizations of complete bipartite multigraphs and symmetric complete bipartite multi-digraphs were studied by Wang and Beiliang[8]. Also, Beiliang and Wang have shown that Ushio conjecture is true for bipartite graphs[9]. In the present paper we shall show that ushio conjecture is also true for factorization of complete bipartite graphs. That is, we shall prove that a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a -factorization of is integer.

There is no doubt that the world is constantly developing in terms of technology. This technological development had caused a drastic linguistic problem of addressing the expanding wave of newly coined concepts and technologies for which no equivalents in Persian used to exist. To preserve and help strengthen the existing Persian Language terminology, Iran’s Academy of Persian Language and Literature started to introduce Persian equivalents for English terminologies of chemistry in 1997. Thenceforth the Academy has introduced at least twenty thousands of Persian equivalents in various fields, but Iranian translators seem to be reluctant about using these newly introduced terminologies. However, no scientific study has investigated the usability and acceptability of these Persian equivalences to the date. To investigate whether the Persian equivalents introduced by the Academy of Persian Language and Literature are really in use or not, the present study first compiled a list of 100 terminologies of chemistry introduced by the Academy of Persian Language and Literature. Then the Persian translations of 10 English books on the related filed were investigated to gather the Persian equivalents Iranian translators had used in their translations for the terminologies under the study. Besides, the translation procedures adopted by translators for translating the terminologies under the study were investigated too. The study revealed that most Iranian translators still do not welcome the Persian equivalents introduced by the Academy of Persian Language and Literature and prefer to borrow the original English terminologies through different translation procedures. In addition, the study showed that in most cases, 71 cases out of the total of 100 cases, Iranian translators had used equivalents other than the ones the Academy of Persian Language and Literature had introduced which in turn indicates that Iran’s Academy of Persian Language and Literature has failed to reach its goal of providing acceptable and usable Persian equivalents for English terminologies of chemistry.

Some aryl chalcones [E-2-Propen-1-ones] have been synthesized using Fly-ash:water catalyzed solvent free Crossed-Aldol reaction between aryl methyl ketones and aryl aldehydes. The yield of chalcones is more than 60%. The purities of these chalcones are checked by their physical constants and spectral data published literature in earlier. The insect antifeedant activities of chalcones have been studied using 4th instar larvae Achoea Janata L.

In this article, we studied the effects of variable viscosity and thermal conductivity on an unsteady two-dimensional laminar flow of a viscous incompressible electrically conducting fluid past a semi-infinite vertical plate taking into account the mass transfer. The fluid viscosity is assumed to vary as a linear function of temperature. The governing equations for the flow are transformed into a system of non-linear ordinary differential equations are solved by a closed analytical form. The effects of the various parameters on the velocity, temperature, concentration and skin-friction profiles are presented graphically.

Eighteen Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) using Schlumberger configuration with a maximum current electrode separation varying from 200m to 650m were carried out at Umutu and environs in Delta State Nigeria. The aim of survey was to determine the underlying lithology, determination of area of corrosive groundwater as well as computing the transmissivity of the aquifer in the area to determine the best location for sitting borehole of high quality in terms of high output. The results have shown that VES 7 has the lowest corrosive groundwater and highest aquifer transmissivity value of 357.0m²/day. With the computation of aquifer transmissivity value resulting from the values obtained it becomes possible to demarcate regions of high groundwater in the area.
