A passive conversion layer was fabricated from C2 solution (with the composition of 5g Cr(III)/ L, compound producing complex 16 g/L, pH = 9) containing nano-silica particles with the content of 5 g/L, on zinc coated samples denoted as M9-5. In this condition, silica particles were dispersed well in the solution with the particles size of about 87 nm. M9-5 samples do not contain a toxic component of Cr(VI) and were significantly reinforced in anti-corrosion ability in comparison to the zinc coated samples. In addition, M9-5 samples have ability to self correct when it is scratched. This ability is the most important property of conversion layer which can reinforce the anti-corrosion property of the samples.

This paper focused on the recovery of uranium from solutions. The adsorption of uranium(VI) from standard uranium solution using activated carbon AC and AC impregnated by trioctyl phosphine oxide (TOPO) was studied using a batch system. The parameters that affect the uranium(VI) adsorption, such as contact time, solution pH, initial uranium(VI) concentration, concentration of TOPO, amount of AC and modified AC, and temperature were investigated and optimized conditions determined (0.03g of AC and modified AC contact with 20ml of standard uranium solution (100 mg/l) at pH4 and room temperature for 45min. ). The maximum loading of uranium ions on AC and TOPO/AC are 23 mg/g (230 mg/l) and 57.6 mg/g (576 mg/l), respectively. Uranium (VI) could be conveniently recovered by elution by H2SO4 this allows recycling of adsorbent. And it’s analyzed by the Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Both the kinetic and the sorption isotherm modeling have been applied upon the obtained data. Thus, it was found that the uranium sorption obeys a pseudo-second order reaction while the Freundlich sorption isotherm model is most suitable to describe the studied sorption reaction.

The effect of radiation on efficiency, retention of activities and stability of the activity during different exposure duration of radiation were studied. In the present work the effectiveness of gamma rays on the glucose and cholesterol oxidases are studied. We find that the last three dose (20, 30 and 45) minute of gamma ray have potential to cause global changes in the reducing enzyme activity. While the cholesterol oxidase activity was reduced after exposure to radiation at 10, 20,30 and 45 min. To investigate the stability of Glucose oxidase and cholesterol oxidase to radiation , different exposure time were preform, and the results show the tolerance capability of glucose oxidase was more than cholesterol oxidase when exposure to radiation for 10 min, the results shown that the activity of glucose oxidase was 0.506 U/ml, while the activity of cholesterol oxidase was 0.472 U /ml.

Librarians are expected to ensure the availability of information to all categories of people without any form of hindrance that may be based on gender, race or any type of impairment. This paper examines library services as they are connected to impaired users. An impaired user here means an individual that has decreased strength or quality. This category of people could be the visually, hearing, speech impaired or any other form of impairment. The ability to be able to render services to individuals that are visually impaired, physically impaired, deaf and dumb through assistive technologies such as Screen reader, Braille translation software, Braille writing equipment, Closed–circuit television (CCTV), Wheel chair, large print, talking/audio books and Braille embosser and scanners has been faced with a number of challenges. It is recommended that libraries, special education teachers, university authorities and stakeholders should endeavour to provide adequate facilities for impaired users.

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a benign lesion of the oral cavity that presents as a solitary red or purple nodule. The routine treatment option for PG is excisional biopsy although the lesion may recur due to several factors such as residual tissue after excision or persistent etiologic factors. This case report presents a recurrent PG lesion in a 25-year old male with significant recurrence of swelling observed several months after excision. A combination procedure of excision and open flap debridement prevented further recurrence.

The present work envisages the synthesis of polyaniline and its doping with salt of a transition metal (Titanium) and effect of dopant on its optical properties to study changes in band gap. Polyaniline was synthesized by process of chemical oxidative polymerization. Chemical Doping of the dopant has been carried out in synthesized polyaniline by making different concentration of dopant in neutral medium and using THF as solvent. An effort has been done to see the effect of dopant in polyaniline by its properties characterized by UV-Visible spectroscopy and then determining band gap with the help of UV spectra.. A significant change has been observed after doping. UV-Visible study shows that optical parameters change after doping. The study reveals that strong dopant interaction takes place with polyaniline network which is responsible for observed changes.

Reading is a method of learning as well as self-teaching that is a basic necessity for the education and training of a nurse. Reading in most instances is enhanced by awareness of its importance, and knowledge of the techniques involved in. In the absence of these two, a student nurse may be incapacitated in the art of remembering and memory recall. Reading as a learning method was investigated among student nurses following the decline in remembering basic facts during oral examinations. This was more common with facts that had been studied earlier on in the education and training programme. Based on this, the study looked at three objectives: to outline some demographic parameters of the student nurses; investigate the importance and reasons for reading; and to assess students’ knowledge on the reading techniques. It is hoped that the results on the importance, reasons and knowledge of reading techniques can motivate other student nurses.

Water is one of the most valued natural resource and hence the management of its quality is of special importance. In this study an attempt was made to compare the aquatic ecosystem pollution with particular reference to the upstream and downstream quality of river water. Water samples were collected from Mogral River and analysed for physico-chemical and bacteriological parameters. Healthy fish samples from the river basin were subjected to bacteriological studies. The direct bacterial examination of the histological sections of the fish organ samples were also carried out. Further, the bacterial isolates were taxonomically identified with the aid of MALDI-TOF MS. The physico-chemical parameters monitored exceeded the recommended level for surface water quality in the downstream segment. Results of bacteriological analysis revealed high level of faecal pollution of the river. The isolation of enteric bacteria in fish species in the river also served as an indication of faecal contamination of the water body. Comparatively, higher bacterial density was found in the liver samples of the fish collected from the downstream, than in other organs of the fish collected from the upstream segment. Taxonomical identification revealed the presence of eight pathogenic bacterial strains from the fish samples, all of which represents a potential hazard to humans. The mean bacterial load of the isolates was found to be markedly higher than the recommended public health standard value adopted by the standard prescribed by World Health Organisation (WHO).

The congenital abnormalities of the aortic arch derived vascular and ligamentous structures are vascular rings. They encircle trachea and esophagus at variant degrees which results in respiratory or feeding difficulties in children. An abnormality of pulmonary arterial system results in airway compression is known as a sling. CT gives excellent spatial and temporal resolution coma a wide field of view, multi planner reconstruction capabilities and simultaneous evaluation of the airway. A brief discussion of the embryology of the branch vessels and aorta is followed by discussions and illustrations of some uncommon and common vascular rings with critical informations required by surgeons.

The growth of the aorta and its major branches are from six pairs of branchial arches, which, throughout the fourth week of pregnancy, combine the primitive ventral and dorsal aortas in the embryo. The right-sided aortic is identified when the aortic arch courses to the right of the trachea. When this happens, there is interchanging of the descending aorta and ascending aorta to the right and left respectively. In abnormal condition it can be interruption dorsal segment which may result in any of the three types of right-sided aortic arch. In anomalies which are diagnosed earlier can result in the management of the condition
